Not so nice place to work
Receptionist/Medical Records Coordinator (Former Employee), Fort Lauderdale, FL – May 15, 2013
Pros: short commute
Cons: employees are disposable
Processed medical record requests, conducted patient check in and check out, performed insurance verification, answered phones, maintained complex filing systems, scheduled appointments, and other general office duties. Maintained accurate order of open charts, verified physician's orders/transcriptions as needed, prepares closed charts, assists nursing – more... staff with monthly editing, put customer service first. – less

Physician worked well with single parent needs, good small company atmosphere
Office Manager (Former Employee), Broken Arrow, OK – May 14, 2013
Pros: free lunches, flexibility
Cons: too much personal influence from outside office staff
The office was opened M-TH and Friday was optional, which was a great benefit to make doctor appointments, etc. and not have to schedule time off of work. Small office consisting of 3 other employees, not including self. I was promoted from front desk to office manager after one year of employment. I was not given any formal training, I researched and – more... learned. At my time of employment we were in the beginnings of transferring from paper charts to electronic charts. I also did a complete office remodel/update to better assist our patients and workflow for staff. This was done in a matter of 3 days. I began to decrease our collection amounts and was working on ways to increase patient flow. – less

My typical day at work starts as Check patient medical history on the office computer even before the patient arrives for their appointment in order to see if lab work, x-rays or immunizations are needed.Set up for procedures.collect patient BMI (body mass index) and vital signs.Update medications and immunization information in patient’s medical history.Retrieve – more... outside records.Remind patients of preventive tests, such as mammograms and colon screenings. Ensure that patient’s disease maintenance needs are up to date, like, for example, lab work and preventive services for a diabetic patient.Make sure the clinic runs smoothly.Assist co-workers .Be a good listener for patients.I have learned how stay clam during bad time.I love to help the patients. I always listen to them very carefully and try to solve their problem as soon as I can. – less

Constantly moving around from one to location to another. A lot of tension among employees. The doctor was not the friendliest to work with.

A workplace that's based on teamwork and professionalism
RN (Current Employee), Atmore, Al – March 15, 2013
Pros: great hours, 3 weeks off during the year for vacation, holidays off
Cons: my drive to and from work.
There is no typical day at work, everyday is a new challenge. I have learned how to clean and dress wounds, venipuncture, and a wide range of other skills. I have assisted with scheduling, ordering supplies for the office, and delegating work. I assist co-workers with work when needed to get patients in and out quickly. The hardest part of the job is – more... my drive to and from work and that is a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the physician I work with. I learn a lot from her and she is always positive. – less

A compassionate hard worker
Externship (Former Employee), Colorado Springs, CO – January 30, 2013
Pros: free lunches and great patients
Cons: co workers
I really enjoyed all of my patients including the doctors. I love this line of work because I enjoy helping people with their daily lives. i remember there was this one patient she came in for a routine check up and during her vitals (Blood Pressure) i couldn't get an accurate reading because her heart was skipping beats so i let the doctor know. then – more... i was instructed to run a EKG on her it came out abnormal. The patient was then referred to a specialist whom let her know that she was on the verge of a heart attack waiting to happen. When she came back to the office for a follow up she congratulated me for saving her life. – less

Fun and Challenging work place filled with great people
Cass River Health Plaza (Former Employee), Saginaw, MI – December 19, 2012
Pros: free lunches, hour long break
Cons: phone calls, not enough computers
A typical day at work would be taking patients back to the rooms, taking vitals and preparing them for the doctors assistance. I learned how to call in scripts for patients and how to send in UA's, This was my first time working in the Medical Field so the hardest part of the job was answering patients questions when i barley knew what they were asking. – more... It got easier as the days progressed and comes easily to me now. My co workers were amazing people, I wouldn't have had it any other way. – less

Pros: close to home
Cons: walk to work
I had no job security, I was hired part time, but I work full time, I like the job location, and I like the people I worked with, but I had no job security and that worried me, because I'm a single women and need a job to support my self.

Amazing medical staff and awesome Doctor
Medical Assistant (Former Employee), Sacramento, CA – November 30, 2012
Pros: free lunches!
My typical day at work is busy. As soon as I get to work, I do my usual routine of downloading labs, checking the voice mail, answering phones, scanning documents to patient's file, etc. I have learned how to efficiently multi-task and enhance my social skills. The management however, needs a little improvement. Office Managers are supposed to be the – more... approachable kind and at least be the mediator when things get a little out of hand at work. My co-workers are great and very helpful with each other. The hardest part of my job was dealing with irate patients in person or over the phone. I have been yelled at and cussed out during a conversation. But as a professional, I have to stay calm but stern with my decision. The most enjoyable part of my job were the free lunches! Drug reps are always so nice to bring us food and we always have the best stories to share with each other. – less
