Hard work, no benefits, lots of yelling, never good enough
Production/Installer/Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee), Boise, ID –
Pros: every once in a while, they'd order lunch for us.
Cons: no breaks (except for lunch), late hours many times.
When I was first hired on, things were good, but after we acquired a new owner, the company began taking a turn for the worse. Redoing signs for the smallest imperfections, staying late for projects that were not due for days, constantly being berated, working hard and being grumbled at for every little thing. Everything was my fault ("that's an excuse!" – more...  was the owner's favorite catch-phrase) so whatever happened had a reason. – less

Great Franchise
FRONT DESK MANAGER (Former Employee), Temecula, CA –
Pros: discounts on marketing materials, vacation time, great sales commission, work-related contests and prizes
Cons: outdated marketing images for advertisements
My experience with Fastsigns was great from both the store-based perspective and with the corporation as a whole.

From the store level, all Fastsigns locations are franchises. I had the pleasure of working with an owner who made the employees feel like we owned the business which made us care more and work harder. We started with one location, and – more...  expanded with two other locations. I had the pleasure of managing all three. Great compensation for sales achievements.

As far as the overall corporation goes, the Fastsigns company gives the franchises lots of flexibility. They are always doing research to find the right vendors of us, but never require us to use any of them. It's all case by case, shop by shop basis. Basically, follow the basic Fastsigns formula but customize it to make it work for each shop.

The toughest part about working here is that it takes a strong commitment. It's a small business and we deal with lot of companies that need signs and need them fast. There were several times where we would have to work very late nights and pull strings to get jobs done.

It's also a burn out job. If you don't plan on purchasing a franchise of your own, there really isn't any further advancement you can go unless you're truly just money motivated and want to keep breaking sales records. Our boss hired a person for every area of the shop. He hired people who knew how to not only do their jobs, but figure things out... and was confident that we would be able to complete the jobs. ...which made it great for us because we used his guidelines and added our own touch. That made it a place that you wanted to be. There's nothing worse than spending most of your time in a place that you hate. He made sure we created an atmosphere that we all enjoyed. ...and hired the right team members that would work well with one another.

If you're looking for a job at FASTSIGNS, I would recommend this place because they have a great formula and the company isn't going anywhere. However, keep in mind that they are franchises and independently owned... so whoever your owner is, well, that's going to determine how the shop is run and if you'll enjoy it. I was pretty lucky! – less

Productive Place To Work
Sales Manager (Current Employee), Sanford, FL –
The day starts out with a work-start meeting, where the sales team and production go through the work load for the day. This is where any questions that need to be addressed are answered and upcoming installs are reviewed. We also go over our goals for the month and the progress that has been made. During the day, I work with customers via phone, email, – more...  and in person to make sure their signage needs are met. At the end of the day, we close out the day and prepare for the next mornings meeting. – less

personal sales and services offered great services at great prices
Sales and Administration (Former Employee), Charlotte, NC –
Pros: personal sales/services offered at great prices
Cons: hard work
Outside and inside sales to estimating and final project close out. My Fastsigns personal sales and services offered great services at great prices to Fastsigns 5,000 plus managers/owners clients’ customers that Fastsigns has been servicing in the sign business for 21 years. My hard work in personal sales and services has increased the Fastsigns client’s – more...  sales/profits. – less
