Prepared any vegetables, fruits required for the menu.
dishwasher, prep. of vegetables and fruits (Former Employee), Waseca, MNNovember 21, 2013
Pros: being able to eat fruits and vegetables.
Cons: little pay.
I really enjoyed working and preparing a large amounts of vegetables or fruits that will be used for that day. I will get the task done when the cooks will ask for anything they required for the prepartaion of the meals for that particular day. I learned that its very important to have everything ready so that the cooks will have what is needed and – more... let them know if anything is missing that we might not have so they can change the menu for that day. I beleive that team work is real important so that we can get the job done. – less

This was a contract phlebotomist position at Federal Prison in Beaver, WV
Beaver Contract Phlebotomist/ Medical Assistant (Former Employee), Beaver, WVSeptember 13, 2013
Pros: good pay with benefits.
Cons: potentially dangerous environment.
I was a little apprehensive to work in a prison but, i practiced my #1 life rule and treated others as i would like to be treated and i received nothing but respect from the inmates. I really got to sharpen my venipunture skills here because many inmates had damaged veins from drug abuse. I had a wonderful manager and my coworkers all were a pleasure – more... to be around. The hardest part of this job was when we had a lock down, being a civilian contractor, i was locked in my lab while all the BOP employees were surveying the scene. I was scared but, always made it out at the end of the day. The most enjoyable part of this job was making life long friendships while i was employed there. Several of my former co workers still keep in touch and we see each other regularly. – less

Phenomenal Supervision as a Psychology Intern at the Federal Prison
Psychology Intern (Former Employee), Fort Dix, NJAugust 5, 2013
Pros: good rapport between psychologists; great learning for forensic psychology
Cons: limited abilities as a volunteer intern, because of rules of the federal prison
A typical day at work would begin by having to be signed in by one of the staff psychologists. I was supported in developing my own curriculum to work with male inmates in group anger management, which was very challenging, but very rewarding. I also had private sessions with inmates who came in for counseling if they were feeling suicidal, extremely – more... anxious or depressed. My co-workers were wonderfully supportive and treated me like part of the team. The hardest part of the job was being so limited because of the rules of the federal prison in regard to volunteer interns. The most enjoyable part of the job was learning what it was like to work with antisocial personalities and psychopaths, and developing the skills that were necessary to work with them without being manipulated by them. It was also very interesting to conduct formal psychological assessments on some of the inmates who demonstrated cognitive difficulties, and to find that many of them did in fact meet criteria for mild neurocognitive disorder or learning disabilities. It was good to see them get the educational services and the care they needed after the psychological assessments were completed. I enjoyed working at the prison, and I enjoyed educating the inmates about CBT, Applied Positive Psychology and other ways to manage their stress and anger more effectively. I also enjoyed the rapport that the psychologists and myself maintained with each other. It was a very positive work experience. – less

good work environment, decent pay
Machine Operator (Former Employee), Versailles, CTSeptember 10, 2012
Pros: good co-workers and decent food in vending machine
Cons: the sore hands from handling the products
most of my time working as an FCI at Caraustar i worked second shift and all of us on second shift in the mill in all of the departments gotten along just fine, making the work environment that much better for everyone. And it was very good money for such a simple/easy job, also there was alot of over time to work during the week and on saturday. And – more... i was more then happy to work the over time. A typical day as an FCI intailed, inspecting the print and imbossing(imprinted picture on the carton), keeping the feeder of the guling machine filled wit un glued cartons, making sure that the guling machine didnt jam and if it does stop the machine using an emergency stop button, inspecting the finished product for quality of the glue and the alinement of the carton. sometimes the hardest aprt of the job was trying to keep up with the belt if the machine was running fast to get the product out. The most enjoyable part was break time because it was a chance to cool down and wind down with co-workers. – less

Gave me an opportunity to aquire more skills in the electronic/electrical field.
Electrical Helper (Former Employee), Lexington, KYMay 22, 2012
My day would start off with going in and checking to see what task I would be doing that day. Then I would talk with my co-workers and we would gather the tools that we would need for that particular job. With that job and with any job, too me, there is no hard part and the most enjoyable part of the job is doing the work.
