A hard job, but one that pays relatiely well.
Driver (Current Employee), Northern VirginiaApril 6, 2015
Pros: Plenty of work.
Cons: No benefits and lifting of heavy boxes.
Fedex is a well-known company that has several different services for which one can drive. I have driven for three of these services. The policies basically are the same, even though the individual contractors are different. Unfortuanately, no healthcare benefits are provided at all, meaning that one must use one's salary to buy these benefits separately.

Enjoyable position with ablity to meet new people daily
Courier (Current Employee), Houston, TXApril 6, 2015
Enjoy meeting and establishing new relationships with all of my customers. To be able to know customers and they know me is something I look forward to when I begin each work day. I take pride in letting them see my outgoing personality - making them feel comfortable with me to fully appreciate the short, but interactive time we have.

Loader (Former Employee), Sacramento, CAApril 6, 2015
A typical day at FedEx was coming to FedEx ground and meeting with your crew and getting to work.
While working at FedEx I learned how to load trucks and organize boxes.
management was corporative and worried about the job being done correctly.
co-workers were not as talkative they just worked together and got the job done.

Package handler (Former Employee), Charlotte, NCApril 6, 2015
 Fast-paced warehouse environment.
 Continuous lifting, lowering, and sliding packages weighing 25-50 lbs, can lift up to 100 lbs.
 Electronic scanning of all parcels using and RF Scanner and sorting to appropriate areas.
 While employed with UPS, I’ve won various contests for Safety methods; I have had my picture posted onsite for great load walls.

PACKAGE HANDLER (Former Employee), Fort Collins, COApril 6, 2015
Speed, accuracy, strength. This job requires a lot of stamina. Once "in the swing of things" it was a flow.
I worked in the unload, load, and small parcel Departments.

Package Handler (Former Employee), Pittsburgh, PAApril 6, 2015
Pros: Permanent Part Job
Cons: Job hours Fluctuate due to the volume.
This is a fast paced work environment. If you are looking to lose some weight. You have to be moving all the time in order to keep with the amount of boxes that needs to be moved in one shift.

Not enough hours per week to make an honest living.
Associate (Former Employee), Los Angeles, CAApril 5, 2015
Pros: As a driver you will get good hours.
Cons: It all depends on the manager.
FedEx doesn't hire full time employees unless you become a driver, even then the routs you will get are lousy. Getting with a good manager will make all the difference.

Customer Service Agent (Current Employee), houston, txApril 5, 2015
Pros: a flexible schedule, paid vacations
Cons: working holidays, sick days don't cary over
I've worked with FedEx for a little over 26 years. I have worked in different customer service positions gaining experience which has been beneficial to me in not only allowing me to become one of the
top agents at the company but also helped me to understand people in general. We are alll much more alike than are different.

Material Handler (Current Employee), Salt Lake City, UTApril 4, 2015
Pros: healthcare for a part time job, employee appreciation days
Cons: late flights, snowy days.
We punch in and we have a group meeting. Meetings are used to let us know what is happening for the shift. How many planes are coming in, who is doing what on the job assignments. Planes come in we work them and we move to the next. We do that for the night until they depart. Once there gone we go home.

The managers and co-workers get along pretty well. Stuck cargo containers are pretty difficult to deal with.

Handler (Current Employee), Memphis, TNApril 4, 2015
Pros: Very respctful and positve atmosphere
Cons: No major problems
Talking and laughing with co-workers, as the intensity of the environment is strong. Learning patience and confidence is needed with this intensity. Knowing that the supervisor is satisfied that the task is completed within the time frame and in a positive atmosphere

Courier (Current Employee), New York, NYApril 4, 2015
Pros: Good health care and transit assistance.
Cons: The pay is not as good as it should be.
A typical day at work starts any where from 6:15 am to 7:15 am I load up my truck and I'm on the road by 8:45 am . I start making deliveries.at around 9:10 until about 2:30 pm i then take a break and start doing pick ups until about 5:00 pm.
I have learned to adapt to change ( i.e. weather, traffic and emergencies.).
For the most part management is OK but lots of times they lack communication but its understandable in a plce where no two days are alike.
My co-workers are people who have been with the company from one month to 30 years. they are all hard working and are there to lend a hand if need be.
The hardest part of the job is not knowing when your going to be done for the day, it can be stressful at times.
the most enjoyable part of my job to me is meeting customers and people who are working around me doing a similar job.
