Working at Federal-Mogul is like my second family.
Quality Supervisor (Current Employee), South Bend, IN – May 11, 2012
Pros: never boring, always new challenges to conquer
Cons: not enough time
My day starts out at 6:00 AM or earlier when I meet with the night shift Quality Technicians to find out if they had any major problems or concerns. I then communicate any new business or training they will need to go through with them. I then met with my lead inspector to find out if she had any issues and to discuss training and new business with – more... her. I then check to see if we have any call offs for the day shift and make necessary calls to cover staff shortages. I then inform the leads for Quality and Inspection of the production schedule and change over's for the day. At 7:00 AM I meet with the Quality Assurance Manager and relate any problems and Quality concerns that we have had. The rest of my day is spent doing the following: Time Keeping New Gage Design Meet with Quality and Manufacturing Engineers for special projects they need completed Distrubion of product in the review area Take care of all disciplinary for 80 employees Write Purchase Orders for any new material or tools that are needed If allowable/no major problems I try and leave around 4PM I am on call when I am not at the plant. – less
warehouse worker (Current Employee), TN – May 10, 2012
Pros: pay is okay
Cons: always having to work 10 hour days, even for overtime.
The dept. that I now work in has way too much drama! There are a few people that think they run the area, and the supervisor doesn't do much to help matters. He lets some people choose the hours they want to work; without them bidding on a job posting. The management team is the same team they have had for years. All they do here is rotate the same – more... people; no new people or new ideas ever get implemented. My hardest part of the job is just to be able to show on my work days; several people have this same problem. – less
Machine Operator (Former Employee), Skokie, IL – April 12, 2012
Pros: nice picnics.
Cons: good benefits
Its regular 12 hour day working on machines sometimes we have problems and sometimes we get threw the day under a lot of pressure to customer demands. I learned how to work together with a good team of employees. My co-workers are great even tho its a long shift we get threw the day going out to lunch.
Machinist (Former Employee), Boaz, AL – March 15, 2012
Pros: clean working environment
Cons: need better medical insurance, and retirement benefits.
This could be a better place for workers, if it was a more of a stable place to work. Working conditions seem pretty good with some of the rules a bit over board. Over all a good place to work accept for the instability with the laying off as frequent as they are. The pay scale has not improved at all. I worked there 1998. The pay scale was 14.98. They – more... make 16.00 hourly if your a machinist. Not very much since 13-14 years. – less
Packaging, Assembly Line and Inspector (Current Employee), Skokie, IL – March 7, 2012
Pros: hours
Cons: location
Working there is not stable. You never know when they going to lay you off because someone may not like you. The harder you work the more it seems as if you not working hard enough.
Packaging (Former Employee), Smyrna,TN – March 1, 2012
Pros: great benefits
Cons: heat/cold
Easy work with great benefits. If you can hold up in extreme temperatures it wasn't a bad place to work at. Just make sure if you take leave or anything get some type of documentation cause they will try every way to get you out the door.
my work was compensated at a fair rate of pay and health coverage
Relife (Former Employee), Greenville, MI – December 16, 2011
Pros: good pay and health benefits
Cons: long hours and multipule days in a row
I wish federal mogul would have been a place that I could have planned ahead on. They were always closing doors of other plants and working overtime to compensate.
