This position provides the opportunity to work on a large scale wireless communications project with individuals who are leaders in the in building wireless field. The Field Engineer (FE) will work closely with the Project Manager, Operations Manager and other members of the San Francisco based team. This is a varied RF role requiring product research and purchasing assistance, interfacing with technical and construction personnel, familiarity with RF hardware and test equipment, strong computer skills and on site work. This job is local to San Francisco and will initially consist of one long term, multi-faceted project.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Research products needed for job, make recommendations, and report back to the project leaders in an organized and systematic way
  • Assist with pricing, quotes and decision making for required purchasing
  • Operate and maintain test equipment and ensure availability when needed
  • Perform in-depth site surveys using spectrum analyzers, radio hardware and other survey tools
  • Write detailed reports based on the findings of site surveys performed
  • Work closely with team members to build RF systems that meet client requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities in order to comply with contractual obligations
  • Develop continuous improvement operations for all measurement systems and procedures
  • Report project status and action items on an ongoing basis
  • Interface with construction and technical staff
  • Related duties as needed

Preferred qualifications:

  • B.S. or equivalent in EE/Computer Science (or related field of study)
  • 5+ years of solid work experience with wireless system deployments
  • Training, experience and aptitude for electronic equipment
  • Physically able to move and set up test equipment (must be able to lift 50 lbs.)
  • Prefer familiarity with DAS design, Link Budgeting, hardware, deployment, test procedures, and commissioning
  • Experience in operating measurement instruments such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes and other RF test equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of RF technology, radio propagation, and network architectures
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the physical setup of base stations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and excel in a work environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to work as a team member and interface with high level personnel
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, attention to detail and strong customer service orientation
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required; iBwave and CAD knowledge is a plus
  • Work location is in San Francisco with some local field work (schedule flexibility required, especially during final phases of the project)
