Could be a great place to work, needs some old school direction.
Maintenance Planner for the Pulp Mill (Former Employee) – Glens Falls, NY – June 17, 2013
This industry is changing and Finch has made changes to keep pace. But in the process they have created some problems that make it hard to work for them. Lately there has been more of a rift between management and the common workers. Finch needs the middle managers that give the workers direction, remind them of safety concerns and helps them be more productive. Finch Paper is a great company but they have forgotten that some of the old traditions of papermaking had very solid reasons for being in place. Once those traditions were dropped, working there became a real chore.
Production Shift Supervisor (Former Employee) – Glens Falls, NY – April 29, 2012
Overall daily operation of paper machine included cordinating with other support deparments as to what was and will take place in a 12 hour shift. Employees were very knowledgeable of machine processes and what was involved with order, and or grade changes. Everyone willing to help one another out, Hardest part was dealing with management as I didn't come from the company culture. Hired as an outsider. Most managers were willing to work together and share ideas, but most were stuck in their ways. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with crews and sharing new ideas and working to put them in place.
