Gone way downhill ....once was special
Psychiatric Social Worker-Consultant (Former Employee) –  Geneva, PAMarch 27, 2016
After a decade of work as a Consultant, new management came in and began the process of cleaning house. This included the people who made this a very special place to work. Subsequently, the morale of EVERYONE in this facility is beyond salvaging at this time. On the upside, the Facility is the cleanest place I have ever worked at.....Housekeeping hits it out of the Park !!!! The Doctors and Nurses come on board and leave within a couple years like clockwork. Finger Lakes Health claims they strive to hire only the best, yet they have a way of making the best feel devalued enough to leave.
Pros
Clean Facility with a fond history
Cons
Has declined in terms of quality care by any measurable standard

Hectic, unorganized, unprofessional work environment with no value and total disregard for employees and residents' well-being and rights
CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) –  Geneva, NYSeptember 3, 2015
This facility is run by chaos! The DON and Nurse managers are untrained, they don't follow up on reports from staff. The death rate is EXTREMELY high, as well as rate of falls and injuries. The aide to patient ratio is state reportable! Most days staffing was 2 aides and one LPN to 40 residents. Your overworked for low pay! 5-10 years of exp still only gets you the standard $9.52 an hr! This place should be closed down or taken over immediately! I witnessed 9 deaths over just a 3 month period alone, on average 1 a month thereafter. This place is a butcher shop! Don't send your family there unless you want them to die within the next few months. do not work there either! Full of workplace drama and inappropriate advances from male staff! management does NOTHING about it!
Pros
cheap lunch, closer to home
Cons
Horrible management, rude staff, no room for advancement, low pay

I worked for this Company for 5 years, in that time raises were less than 1.5%, management didn't care or listen. .
Billing (Former Employee) –  Geneva, NYJune 29, 2015
The best part of my job were the patients. I enjoyed interacting with them until upper management told me not to, I did anyway.
Unfortunately this company did not advance capable employees, they would always interview from within however never promote from within.

The absolute worst
Certified Nurses Aid (Current Employee) –  WaterlooFebruary 1, 2015
A typical evening shift is 2 or 3 aides for 40 residents. An assignment is anywhere between 13-20 residents each and a complete nightmare. the management is decent enough although they do not seem to care about their employees. The supervisors are all rude and ill-tempered. The nurses do not work with the aides as a team. The other aides are great to work with, but overall a terrible and stressful environment. When its time for yearly meetings to discuss a raise, good luck (19 cents per year increase at most). Management and supervisors are all very unappreciative.
Pros
the residents are great as well as the other aides
Cons
short staffed, horrible management, no chance for advancement and horrible pay

Management not supportive
Nurse (Former Employee) –  Geneva,N.Y.August 13, 2013
Play favorites with staff. If you get sick or your out for surgery they will replace you. No one to go to if you are having problems.Human resources not there for employees. The surgery center would have been a nice place to work if the certain nurses didn't run the place. Managers afraid to speak up,no supervision can't believe what happens behind closed doors.
Pros
Work Monday thru Friday. No late nights.
Cons
Miserable nurses that dictate how your day is going to be.

Lousy Management Who Don't Listen to the Staff
C.N.A. (Current Employee) –  Unit 1January 1, 2014
If you are looking for a place to get the feeling of not being appreciated and possibly stabbed in the back, then you have found your dream job.The facility has poor management as well as an HR department that doesn't see the writing on the wall. If you are an employee who is being bullied by your manager, you will have no resources to turn to. It becomes a lonely environment, so have thick skin! There is one administrator who has worked there so long that they allow her to mistreat and bully the weaker staff. They need to fire her or send her to management training.
Pros
residents are mostly all wonderful. they will brighten your day with a thoughtful gesture.
Cons
little to no advancement opportunities unles it is what the organization needs, no one to listen to your problems because they are short-staffed/ill-tempered.

Productive and Efficient at any tasks at hand
CNA (Former Employee) –  Waterloo, NYApril 22, 2013
I am usually at a desk inputting information and typing insurance policies. I get along with my co-workers and the hardest part of the job is the deadlines on some policies. The most enjoyable part of my job is the satisfaction of our clients with a job well done.
Pros
overtime always available
Cons
being in an office by myself most of the day

Striving for costumer satisfaction and maintaining state and facility standards of care.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Former Employee) –  Penn Yan, NYDecember 3, 2013
Using individual skills and teamwork to ensure each and every resident receives proper care and attention to detail as far as individual care plans and individual needs. Staff generally work well together under stressful situations as far as time management, communication, and daily behaviors. Putting a smile on residents and families faces knowing that the resident is being cared for and needs are met in timely and caring manner.
Pros
full-filling needs, seeing smiles, listening to story's of life before coming to us, giving passionate care, being respectful to each resident, maintaining respect or residents wishes, gaining and keeping confidence of family members.
Cons
not always having staffing needed, but able to make the day go smooth by working harder and as a cohesive team.

Strong corporate culture and excellent benefit program. Management is somewhat resistant to change. Recent funding issues led to several positions being eliminated.
