Over 11 years of service I was able to get the network, workstations, and BC/DR site operating with very good efficiency. This allowed me time to create a “self-help” system that allowed employees to resolve many common problems they experienced. I spent the majority of my time major issues.
I learned how to keep two bank branches serving customers and providing network access for the remaining branches during a city-wide power outage lasting over two days.
The majority of the managers were very good at their jobs. However, as sometimes happens, some managers were in positions due to their longevity.
Co-workers were good hard working people.
It was hard and took a long time to get non-technical employees and managers to understand the importance of information security. They tried their best but on occasion fail social engineering challenges. However, in the last three external audits the employees received perfect scores!
Keeping the network, servers, and branches serving customers during long duration power outages on two separate instances two years apart.
