This is a good place to work in downtown San Francisco. It has a good work culture and nice people. IT uses good technologies and they provide lots of training.

First Republic Bank is a wonderful place to work, but advancement is extremely competitive and difficult. The best thing about FRB are definitely the people.
Pros
stipend lunch, health care, dental, vision, 401k match, pre-tax transportation
Cons
no career advancements

People in management positions should be hired for ability to manage a team, not because of legacy. The amount of changes they are trying to push forward is admirable, but the fake deadlines are hard to handle.

Great energy, easy to build strong relationships, strong company.
Analyst (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CAOctober 25, 2017
Strong company, will place you in a position to learn a great deal. Allows the right people an opportunity to advance, and take in more challenging roles. Overall, really good place to start your career, for some, and continue your career for others.
Pros
Subsidized meals, 401k match, tuition repayment
Cons
Difficult to advance, and/or find ways to grow professionally outside of your role.

Hard to move up but good work culture and quarterly bonuses are given out. Management tended to be a little strict but overall good place to work and start a career

Management can be strict

Preferred Banker (Current Employee) –  San Francisco, CAAugust 2, 2017
Excellent environment to grow and learn. FRB empowers its employees through incentives and active discussion.
The base pay for bankers is fair with unlimited incentive potential. There is no hard sales pitch; your simply encouraged to what what right for your clients.

great bank, iffy culture
Senior Financial Analyst - Partner Lending (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJuly 11, 2017
One of the strongest banks around, however the culture there is a little off. Management definitely plays favorites and it is impossible to run issues up the ladder as you cannot contact executive management without permission from your manager. Bank pays well, but not worth the mental anguish.

No room for growth in this company
PBO (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJuly 11, 2017
Having been at this company for several years, there is no room for growth or advancement. Management wants to keep you in your current position. Management is lazy, selfish, only cares for themselves, doesn't promote or care for your career growth in the company. Direct management can get away with so much that a normal employee would get written up or fired for. I see the same people get promoted over and over again within the company thus lots of favoritism and politics. It doesn't matter if you work hard, promotions are for outsiders, contractors or favorites. Departments unwilling to train or cross develop existing employees. Although the banks treat their clients like kings and queens, certain employees get treated horribly. The overall atmosphere that I get from this bank is people's snobby attitudes..guess it goes with the "higher end" banking appearance. I do not recommend this company for a career.
Pros
Compensation, benefits, student loans paydown
Cons
Poor management, politics

Associate Preferred Banker (Full-Time) (Former Employee) –  Mill Valley, CAJune 27, 2017
Overall, not a bad company. Pay was great. Incentives are easy to obtain with hard work. Personally, I felt very separated from my "team" in the branch. I left because of them and their unwillingness to coach properly. After 4 years of banking, this was the bank that broke the camels back. Complete lack of personal interest in your life. I felt very alone there. Really depends which branch you get...
Pros
Great compensation, benefits, and salary
Cons
Terrible coaching from branch management and complete lack of interest in your personal life.

Executive Assistant (Former Employee) –  San Francisco, CAJune 15, 2017
Management will pay off staff for potential illegal termination to avoid a lawsuit.
FRB appears to be a good balance company on the surface but there are lots of managers with a poor management style that makes the day to day productivity unproductive.
Pros
good work and play balance
Cons
Poor Management

Wonderful culture with genuinely interested and positive management
Administrative Assistant to the SMD (Former Employee) –  Palm Beach, FLJune 7, 2017
The First Republic Branch where I worked was relatively small in comparison to other branches. A typical day at work was moderately stress free with freedom to work at own pace and take liberties in creative problem solving. Management seemed to be genuinely interested in workplace growth and advancement for employees. The culture at FRB was extremely vibrant and motivating. The hardest part of the job was finding potential prospects. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to use my creativity to promote the bank
