Great family, numbers oriented administration
Helpdesk Computer Technician (Former Employee) –  Saint Augustine, FLFebruary 2, 2017
The entire staff of flagler was a pleasure to work with. Every department mainly handled itself. Within IT, the management had solid organization, but was constantly at the whims of other departments that wanted something. My manager had the well being of his whole team in mind, and helped us all to expand our opportunities. The hardest part of the job was just the recurrence of issues. Whether these were internal systems that we just had trouble getting to work perfectly with each other, or external vendors that were unreliable, numerous things seemed to be resilient issues that weren't resolved.

Sadly, someone in accounting decided that a huge amount of the IT department was superfluous, and has done what is likely to be EXTENSIVE damage to the organization. The administration does not share in the sense of family that the rest of the hospital seems to have, and has significant in-fighting in the department from some indications.
Pros
family like atmosphere
Cons
administration has problems, is disconnected

Renal Care Unit/ Med Surge: Registered Nurse, BSN (Current Employee) –  Saint Augustine Beach, FLJanuary 31, 2017
Flagler hospital cares for both their patients and workers. It is a Customer care oriented facility inwhich it seems like I've seen more customer satisfaction at this facility. The hospital, management, and co-workers are so team orientated, it makes you proud to be a part of such an out standing orginzation.
Pros
wonderful atmospher
Cons
hard to get raises

Does NOT value employees or treat them well.
RN (Current Employee) –  Saint Augustine, FLJanuary 27, 2017
Management doesn't communicate well, and departments don't communicate with each other very well - very dysfunctional; does not give raises, other than a one time across the board 2.5% raise to employees in 2016 (5% for nurses). It was made clear that this was a one time event. They will tell you that folks get bonuses, however your salary will not increase. Otherwise, once employed, you will not get rewarded monetarily for good work.

Staff morale overall is low because they don't feel valued. There are people in leadership positions that seem to be over their heads, making, then reneging on decisions with regularity and without explanation. Administration appears to only listen to physicians (and even then, not always) and seems mystified by this continuing morale issue.

Very dysfunctional, do not work here unless you are prepared to deal with frustration and chaos. There are good people here in every department, but overall the way employees are disregarded and devalued is shameful.

Patient Safety Observer (Former Employee) –  St. Augustine, FLDecember 28, 2016
Flagler has a couple issues within their staff. Most of them are unprofessional and tend to view others in a manor that does not stand for the iCare image.
Pros
Some of flaglers employees are caring and great people
Cons
Unprofessional nurses and staff.

Good hospital to work for with decent benefits.
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) –  Saint Augustine, FLNovember 6, 2016
Overall, pleasant place to work with good benefits. The nursing shifts were 12 hour days and full time is 3 days a week. The culture is such that other staff members work together to take care of patients. Management works well with the staff, open door policy, and responsive to staff. Pay rates were competitive for the region.

Workplace culture very critical
RN Full time (Former Employee) –  Saint Augustine, FLOctober 22, 2016
The nurses were very clicky and back stabbing. Management was very distant. I felt discriminated against for being a man in healthcare. Coworkers were always trying to find anything possible to report to supervisors.

cheap insurance

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant, Unit Secretary (Former Employee) –  Saint Augustine, FLSeptember 26, 2016
We were respected and received raises till New CEO came in then everything stopped.

Previous CEO showed his appreciation to the employees every year with a Dinner and party, that stopped as did so many other things that made it fun to come to work and help get though the death and dying.
Pros
It was a paycheck
Cons
Too many

This facility has not displayed a value for its employees
RN (Former Employee) –  Emergency RoomSeptember 25, 2016
As a former RN I would say that this employer lacks a sincere desire to maintain good employees. Poor compensation and a tolerance for management to isolate themselves in an elitist club. A beautiful place to live and work. It's too bad that Flagler Hospital is run by a board of trustees that are only interested in lining their pockets.
Pros
Beautiful place to live
Cons
Poor compensation. Magnet here is a joke.
