Adjunct Professor, Criminal Justice (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLNovember 7, 2017
A typical day of work is lecturing and helping students meet their objectives within the class. Grading students assignments and allowing students to make -up work. Meeting with students within and outside class hours. The management is flexible. The work culture was nice. The hardest part of the job was knowing that it was not permeant. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with students and making a difference.
Pros
Friendly work environment
Cons
Temporary Job

State University job that is perpetually understaffed.
Volunteer Administrative Hearing Panelist (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLSeptember 14, 2017
Great place to work but departments can be understaffed vs other universities with similar number of students. That can increase job stress but they try to compensate it by paying a bit more. If you are self motivated you can learn a great deal but it can be hard to apply what you learn.

Police Officer (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLAugust 17, 2017
Management was horrible. Not concerned about law enforcement. Unfair treatment. No advancement. Management sucks. Could be a great place to work if management was concerned about safety on campus.

Law Librarian & Associate Professor of Law (Former Employee) –  Orlando, FLJuly 11, 2017
Management was centralized at FAMU main campus 250 miles north of Law School campus in Orlando, FL. There were some challenges in getting the necessary paperwork completed in a timely fashion. However, there were gratifying challenges in running a unit within the Law School. The library personnel were superb. Working with them was a joy.

Tutor/Teachers Assistant (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLJune 21, 2017
This university is meant to provide a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else. The experience that comes with attending an HBCU can't be replicated and includes a lifetime welcome into a family. The faculty are your friends and the campus exudes friendliness that I have not felt anywhere else in a school environment. Once accepted here, you are accepted into a world that strives and encourages success for all, and the attitude of all for one and one for all can be found living here.

The environment was laid back for the most part. Things got crazy sometimes but nothing that can't be handled. There wasn't much room for advancement.
Cons
No room for advancement, only got pay raises through the state depending on the budget you're paid from
