Senior Secretary (Former Employee), Davie, FL – January 15, 2013
Pros: everything
Cons: i cannot get back in
I loved working here and reluctantly left due to mandatory student teaching to complete my degree. The staff was excellent, the benefits were great, the hours were great, and working with college students was great. I have searched for another opening since I left. There is very little turn around in my job experience because it is such a great employment – more... opportunity. They pay could be better, but the perks make up for it. – less
The work is enjoyable but micromanagement is not my style. Unable to complete may tasks because of interference from management. Some policies could change daily or hourly depending on mood.
Vibrant state university with a growing campus body.
Admissions Officer (Former Employee), Davie, FL – November 26, 2012
Pros: location, atmosphere, opportunity.
Cons: na
I worked for FAU while young. The exposure to more experienced management who were caring and considerate in bringing me up to speed have set the standard for all management experiences since. The location is fantastic, but the university is a wonderful place to work.
Undergraduate Research Assistant (Former Employee), Boca Raton, FL – October 1, 2012
This was a wonderful introduction into school psychology and being a researcher. I opted for a slightly different route, however, am still using what I learned to this day.
Visiting Professor (Former Employee), Port St. Lucie and Jupiter campuses – September 18, 2012
Pros: the professional atmosphere
Cons: none.
I loved working at FAU. The students, for the most part, wanted to learn. The administration was very supportive. I wish I could find another job like the job I had at FAU!
Coordinator (Former Employee), Boca Raton, FL – August 5, 2012
Pros: great mentor in office head
Cons: small team
* Small office environment * Managing and securing sensitive information * Participated in investigations, gaining experience and knowledge * Promoted after 2 years
Secretary (Former Employee), Davie, FL – July 3, 2012
I volunteered here for two months as a secretary for an associate professor. It was a great learning experience. I did the typical assistant work, filling papers, data entry, emailing, and answering and making phone calls.
Coordinator (Current Employee), Boca Raton, FL – June 6, 2012
Pros: university culture
Cons: low pay, bad management
Working at a university is great- you are encouraged to take part in university events on campus and interacting with young students keeps your mind fresh.
