We are a private school and have an immediate need for an experienced and certified teacher for our Secondary Special Education classroom (typical ages 12-19). Must be certified, great at multi-tasking, and have strong inter-personal and communication skills. Some prior special needs teaching experience is required. All candidates need to have a passion for educating children with autism and other disorders, the ability to implement curriculum, have good communication skills, have great organizational skills, and possess flexibility and dependability. Our environment features small classrooms, having 10 students or less, a teacher's assistant, very little paperwork, and we encourage you to be creative and use out-of-the box thinking and techniques to help our children excel.
We offer some of the best Autism early intervention in the country, as well as unique individualized curriculum featuring Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music instruction based on Speech Therapy principles, and Art instruction based on Occupational Therapy principles to name a few of the approaches we use to individualize our curriculum. Our small classrooms and our low student/teacher ratios of 3:1 create a rich learning environment with intense one-on-one instruction.
Position starts at $23,750 per year, includes about 10 weeks of paid vacation and has income growth potential, for the right talent. A four hour working interview is required. A salary review is available to new employees after completing a 90 day probationary period. Work hours are 8:00am-4:00pm, M-F. Must pass drug test and background check.
