Excellent seasonal work.
TEXTBOOK COORDINATOR (Former Employee) –  Buffalo, NYAugust 19, 2017
Seasonal work is your best bet, because since this location is tied directly to university. After the pre- and post-semester rushes, there is very limited work to engage in. Management can be hit or miss, and the work atmosphere is not terrible.

Great gig for students
Technology Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZAugust 16, 2017
Structured training and consistent corporate protocols provided an enjoyable degree of predictability, while interacting with potential customers on the sales floor kept duties from feeling too mechanical. No script for sales associates, but training outlined different suggested sales tactics. Occasional spiffs offered.

Great place for qualifying customers to get an Apple product at educational (discounted) prices!
Pros
Apple Sales Training, working with tech, pick when you take a break
Cons
short breaks, low wages, limited opportunity for advancement

SALES ASSOCIATE (Current Employee) –  New MexicoAugust 15, 2017
Enjoyed the company while I worked there, but the management could use some restructuring. Bosses are very aggressive and easily put blame on employees. But the work was fairly straight forward and it helped pay for books.
Pros
In Campus, Discount on textbooks
Cons
Min wage, lots of expectations, Temporary Position

Follett customer service is a fast paced work environment offering a variety of duties on a day to day basis. Excellent verbal and written communication are a must with attention to detail. They offer excellent starting pay and good benefits. There is little room for advancement at this time.

Shipping and Receiving (Former Employee) –  Kalamazoo, MIAugust 11, 2017
Follett was very easy going with working between students class schedules. You could leave work for class and come back right after. The people were very friendly and it was a fun job.

Great coworkers, not valued by higher ups
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Shippensburg, PAAugust 9, 2017
You will be stressed to no end in August and January, and while you may be valued at store level you will not be fairly compensated for your work. Most managers are great and care for their work force but restrictions from higher up tie their hands.

Follett is a great company to work for. Great work atmosphere, not too large and not too small. Great people, and very competitive in the industry.

If you want to work for the most conservative, resistant, and backward technical environment, work at Follett
Recruiter (Former Employee) –  Westchester, ILAugust 6, 2017
I've never seen a group of people who were so resistant to getting anything done. The technology was backward, too. I don't know how this company survived this long. The only upside to working here is a covered parking garage.
Pros
Covered parking garage, Starbucks onsite
Cons
Backward everything

if you are looking for a job for a few months then this is the job for you. It worked out well for me being laid off in the winter months. The training is hard to remember at first due to the 9 operating systems you have to learn.

Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLJuly 30, 2017
I love working for Follett. No experience is required. They work as best they can with the schedules of the team members to compensate for school or other jobs. I worked for Follett for 2 years before I was promoted into management. Working with Follett has helped me learn new skill sets.
Pros
no experience needed, great for a first job
Cons
Not many hours in the off season

Great Place for Students!
Team Member I (Current Employee) –  El Paso, TXJuly 28, 2017
I loved working at the bookstore, everyone is very nice and make you feel like part of a family but the pay isn't worth the work load, or the hours they give you. Part time means less than 40 yet at least 30, the most you will receive will be during rush yet during a regular semester you will be between 20-25 hrs per week.
Pros
Great coworkers, work with your scheduled
Cons
Not the best pay

Book Processor (Former Employee) –  McHenry, ILJuly 26, 2017
I enjoyed working primarily alone and without distractions. The company has excellent employee retention; most of the warehouse staff has been working there over 10 years. Great benefits and fair pay. Mandatory overtime can be rough. Have to work many Saturdays.

SALES ASSOCIATE/CASHIER (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJuly 25, 2017
This Follett was located within my university, allowing me to work on days off and in between/after classes. Typical retail job with handling cashier duties, stocking the floor and helping customers. Managers were understanding and very patient.

Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Terre Haute, INJuly 24, 2017
Definitely not paid enough for the amount of work you'll do. Also manager is super moody. Always talking down to employees & treating them rudely. Not the kind of person a place should have in a management position. Takes down the whole moral.
Pros
Friendly co-workers
Cons
Manager, pay, workload, short lunch, long days

Follett Team Lead
Team Leader/Supervisor (Current Employee) –  University BookstoreJuly 23, 2017
I started out as a temporary sales associate for "rush". I was a door greeter, and then moved up to a cashier, then a cashier and barista, then working with online orders, and then I became a supervisor and key holder. It is a great job to start with and grow with, and the people you meet along the way are irreplaceable.
