Fountain-Fort Carson School District is committed to providing educational services to children and youth experiencing homelessness. The federal McKiney-Vento Act requires school districts to ensure access to public education for homeless children and youth, and success in school once enrolled.
Children who are considered homeless may be living in – more... the following situations:
In a shelter, motel, vehicle, or campground
On the street
In an abandoned building, trailer, or other inadequate accommodation
Doubled up with friends or relatives because parents cannot find or afford housing
Children in the above situations may have certain educational rights or protections. To obtain more information or to determine if your child qualifies for educational services under this Act, please contact the enrollment secretary at your child's school or:
