As FOX GROUP continues our evaluation and deployment of VoIP equipment and solutions available in the Canadian marketplace (we've been at this since 1997), one of our areas of endeavour involves trialing a variety of platforms ourselves. As consultants to the industry, we believe it is imperative to have first-hand experience with a reasonable cross – more... section of the service offerings available to our enterprise customers.
As more and more of our clients engage us to facilitate evaluation and migration to VoIP-based environments, we are finding our experience with IP-PBXs (premises-based) and hosted/managed (network-based) service offerings to be particularly valuable. As we develop strategic architectures of blended owned and hybrid designs to support distributed corporate environments including call centres and Teleworking, IP telephony is playing a greater role with each engagement.
FOX GROUP is presently testing two IP-PBX platforms and two network solutions. In the coming months, we will update our readers on our findings and progress. We are learning that each system has unique idiosyncrasies, and we are constantly evaluating various technology configurations and physical environmental differences to establish some base lines of design that will support even the most extreme circumstances.
FOX GROUP has extensive hands-on experience with Mitel 3100/3300 IP-PBX which we have used as our in-house system for a number of months. Internally the IP sets have functioned very well. We have also tested the Avaya IP-600 SMB VoIP solution in our test labs (1997-98).
Being a small technology-dependent consulting firm with most of our consultants working remotely, one of the significant benefits of an IP-based phone systems has been the ability to create a virtual environment with the nucleus of our team having IP telework sets in their respective home offices. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
