A bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or economics. Higher level education is a plus,3-5 years recent public account experience.Must have passed all parts of the CPA or be a CPA already. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Demonstrate ability to think independently and make good decisions.
Ability and willingness to prioritize work, follow through on requests, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
The senior is responsible for the day-to-day on-the-job training of assistants, and the efficient wrap-up of the engagement. During the wrap-up phase, the senior is primarily responsible for the detailed review of all working papers and the disposition of all follow-up items. All drafts of financial statements and accountants’ reports must be reviewed and approved by the senior prior to review by the manager or partner. The senior is also responsible for coordinating the timely involvement of other firm personnel such as tax specialists and pre-issuance reviews.
Specific Performance Expectations
Develop understanding of client’s business. Identify unusual accounting problems Keep Partner/Manager informed of progress and set goal date for work papers and financial statement to be provided to Partner/Manager for review. Take ownership of the engagement, anticipate the issues and develop a plan to complete the engagement within budget. Prepare concise work papers with definitive conclusions. Independently prepare a complete set of financial statements. Demonstrate the ability to make the “tough decision” in relation to the engagement. Display a sense of urgency to complete the engagement within budget and deliver a quality work product to Partner/Manager for review. Research any technical issue and discuss with Partner/Manager for further guidance if needed.
