Freeman Decorating Services knows there's no business like the trade show business. Doing business as Freeman, the company stages thousands of conventions, corporate meetings, expositions, and trade shows every year and prepares exhibits for its clients. Its operations include event design and production, stage rigging, market research analysis, social media branding strategy, translations services, and electrical services. The company's Concierge Elite application allows clients to track and update their freight deliveries from their mobile device or PC. Freeman was founded by D.S. "Buck" Freeman in 1927; the company is owned by the Freeman family (including chairman Donald Freeman) and company employees.
Freeman annually produces 3,000 expositions and 10,000 corporate and special events from its more than 40 offices in the US and Canada.
The events management company looks to acquisitions and expanding its list of services as a means for achieving growth. In 2010 it acquired Encore Productions, a creative production and audio visual equipment rental firm based in Las Vegas. The deal added to Freeman's audio visual division and enhanced its position in what it deems the face-to-face meeting and convention industry. Also in 2010, Freeman launched its Concierge Elite mobile application to cater to exhibitors and show managers. It also regularly purges non-core operations to maintain its focus. In 2012 Freeman sold off its Party Time Rentals business to Quebec-based Groupe ABP, as well as its Fern Exposition & Event Services to the company's executive and an investment group. Freeman had picked up Fern Exposition & Event Services when it acquired Wheelhouse Solutions, an experiential marketing services firm, in mid-2011.
Founder D.S. Freeman discovered his decorating talents as a fraternity pledge in college. Accordingly, Freeman started its corporate life offering party decorations for fraternities and sororities in Des Moines, Iowa. – less
