When you tell people that you are a middle school teacher, the automatic response typically consists of the other person shaking their head "no" or holding up their hand in front of themselves to somehow block the idea from reaching their ears. It's quite funny, but what they don't realize is that the experience of being a middle school teacher is nothing like the experience of being in middle school. Teaching is fun. Your job as educator is to have a much fun as you can while also passing the information to the students. Now a typical day at work usually consists of teaching 5-7 classes per day, meeting with your teaching team for a half hour, and a conference period in which the teacher can meet with a parent or a staff member or maybe just get some paperwork done. The half hour before and after school is typically used for tutoring or to carry out an assigned duty, such as monitoring students as they load onto the buses.
One of the best parts about working in Frisco ISD is the quality of the staff working all around you. Somehow Frisco tends to attract people with real character and that can make all the difference in the world. One of the challenges about Frisco ISD is probably the same as in every district and that is time management. Finding a way to finish all of the lessons, the paperwork and all of the preparations that go into teaching can be really hard, but finding that balance is essential. The most enjoyable part of teaching is the chance to work with the children. If you go into the classroom with a smile and teach from your heart, they will make you laugh every day.
