Great Hospital experience, entertaining patients, but low morale among support services
Phlebotomist (Former Employee), Milwaukee, WI – April 17, 2013
Pros: unionized protection, work in a hospital
Cons: can be high stress, and almost no room for advancement
As a phlebotomist working at Froedtert, you were a part of Dynacare. I went through a small training group, and had great camaraderie with the small group. But once you entered the rest of the workforce, it felt like a competition of who could do the least and get away with it. Like having a job was a burden. Granted, the pay is low, hours can be odd, – more... you work every 3rd weekend and the lab's were continually short staffed, and before the new manager - appreciation was low. – less

The thrill of healthcare
Patient Care Technician (Former Employee), Milwaukee, WI – February 3, 2013
Pros: patient interaction
Cons: missed breaks
A typical day here for me consisted of taking care of 18-32 patients, depending on if we were short staffed or not. This was a beyond fast paced environment, often times chaotic, but I loved it! I did a variety of things such as; obtaining vitals, blood work, inserting/ removing catheters, rooming patients, bathing, toileting and much, much more. No – more... one thing was done at a time here, there was alot of multi-tasking here. Mostly everyone got along here, our job consisted of a team, so we all had to work together effeciently to provide great care to our patients. The hardest part of my job was doing postmortem cares. The best part of my job was being able to care for people in their time of need. The main thing that I learned working here is, there is a diverse community out there, no one person is the same and as their caregiver I have to adapt to their needs and really listen to provide good care. – less

Fast pace work place with state of the art equipment.
Physical Therapist Assistant (Current Employee), Milwaukee, WI – January 22, 2013
Pros: great work environment, co-workers, flexibility
Cons: not full-time
Froedtert Hospital is a very fast pace environment where you are part of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare providers. Being an optional part-time PTA at Froedtert has taught me how to adapt to change very quickly. I work with a wide variety of neuro patients each and every day. A typical day would include writing down my schedule and looking up – more... patient information at the beginning of the day. I would typically see 8-12 patients each day. After each patient, I document the PT session in a computer program called EPIC. At the end of the day, I finish any notes that have not been completed. I have learned that communication is one of the most important tools required to be a successful and valuable therapist. Communication with not only your patients, but the other therapists, nurses, and doctors on each patients rehab team. I believe the hardest part of the job is not being there 40 hours a week. There are times of the year where they need me 5 days a week, but there are weeks where I get cancelled due to low census. My most enjoyable part of the job is to work with the patients and their families, and also to monitor the progress each patient has made since their hospitalization. – less

Excellent workplace with unique coworkers!
Access Specialist (Current Employee), Menomonee Falls, WI – July 27, 2012
I have been at Froedtert Hospital for nearly two years and my experience with the organization has been superb to say the least!

My typical day at work is fast-paced, multitasking and finishing time sensitive work. I manage the entire orthopedic per-registration and I thrive off of having lots of work and accomplishing many great outcomes consistently – more... on a daily basis.

I have learned many great things about the corporation and the work environment. I have been able to engage in projects to broaden my knowledge and build profound relationships with many great people along the way. Everyone is helpful and we try our best to steer our vision give the hospital a successful outlook.

The hardest part of my job is realizing that I need more challenges and responsibilities, that in itself is the single most decision for me looking a new organization. I have learned a great deal from my coworkers and have gained experiences that has helped me grow as a young professional.

What I enjoy the most is the respect and trust my coworkers have given me during my tenure. They have been excellent in all stages of my growth and I have built profound relationships. – less

Great place to work for. If I was not moving out of State I would stay.
Health Unit Coordinator (Current Employee), Wauwatosa, WI – June 22, 2012
A typical day would be getting 9 admits and 11 discharges. But I still get the job done. I learned a lot about the Health Care Field. I learned almost as much not having direct patient care, that I could having direct patient care. I love my co-worker they are the best at what they do. The worst part about my job is when I have to call a Rapid Response – more... or a Code 4 on a patient. The thing that I enjoy the most is getting to see and interact with a lot of different people and things – less
