The WORST fake security account in all of G4S
Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCApril 27, 2017
I worked for G4S on the Fannie Mae Account which covers DC, Urbana, MD, Reston and Herndon, VA. With no exaggeration it is the worst job I have ever had! It is severely mis-managed, micr-managed and the training personnel are terrible at what they do with the worst ego's you ever want to deal with. You have to wear the worst suit and tie configuration you can imagine and they make you pay a 150.00 for it without a clothing allowance. You will experience adult bullying and just about every scheduling issue you can think of because they cant keep good officers. My advice to you is take this job if you absolutely can not find anywhere else to work.
Pros
Absolutely Nothing!
Cons
its customer service more then security

Armed Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Nashville, TNApril 27, 2017
Overseas G4S is a great company, not so much in the US. The pay could be better. Armed guards get about 13 an hour, but unarmed get between 9 and 11 per hour. The pay wouldn't be bad if the benefits were decent. Management is a joke and favoritism is used for job advancement, not seniority and hard work.
Pros
if you are armed, you'll make decent money. Good coworkers
Cons
poor management, bad supervisors, poor benefits, favoritism is used, low pay for unarmed guards.

G4s
Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXApril 27, 2017
G4S Secure Solutions U.S.A. is the largest provider of security officer employment in the world -- over 600,000. With contract work assignments, it is very difficult to have any salary increase -- unless a contract is re-negotiated for more funding. My work environment is good and management supervisors are excellent with the great load of responsibility for supervision of security officers.
Pros
Good work environment and management supervisors.
Cons
No paid holidays and very minimal benefits.

If you have a disability, they will not accommodate you for it. Something happens they care more about "running a business," than anything else. In which I understand running a business is important but not taking care of your employees, you will have no one their working for you.
Pros
You get paid when you are their
Cons
everything else makes it more stressful on you

Multiple Positions (Current Employee) –  Tampa, FLApril 27, 2017
High stress environment with somewhat rewarding experiences. Pay is very low for most positions; but the company will reimburse for CEUs and licenses. Best part of working here is helping the children.
Pros
reimbursements and trainings
Cons
pay, politics, and unqualified "higher ups"

Good job poor pay
Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Niagara County, NYApril 26, 2017
Its a fun job! The pay sucks though also you are forced to work extra hours every week unless all positions are filled. No breaks but about 50% of your shift is a break. There is absolutely no room to move up you will basically be stuck a guard forever. This is a good job for a college student or someone that wants experience to get a law enforcement career.
Pros
Fun, good coworkers, lots of down time
Cons
Pay

Just a job to get bills paid
Patrol Officer (Current Employee) –  Rincon, GAApril 26, 2017
Its a very easy job if you just need it for the time being. The management has lack of communication. No pay raise ever but you can work overtime. If someone calls out they make you stay regardless of the situation. No advancement, recognition, or anything to want a person to thrive to do better.
Pros
plenty of overtime
Cons
no advancement, make you stay over if someone calls out, supervisor has lack of communication, no pay increase yearly

This a job that's it it's a place to make money
Security officer (Current Employee) –  Wentzville, MOApril 26, 2017
I work for G4s at the gm plant and it is horrible you work ridiculous hours and sechdule that will effect your home life. Just because they always short handed. They so call (force) you to work if they are opening at different shift. The point system is not flexible if your sick you have to take a point a doctors note is not good them. If you are one minute late you receive a half a point. Your only allowed 8 points a year before you get fired. There no so thing a family emergency for this job if you leave during your shift you will be pointed. Gm pretty much tells us what to do and we do it. We as security to a lot of extra for gm for the same pay which only $12/hr. If you just want make money and don't care about a personal life this the job for you.
Pros
Easy job
Cons
No breaks, everything in review

Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Saginaw, MIApril 26, 2017
This company relies heavily on seinority. Because of this, new hires are always least considered for anything. Since termination and turnover is relatively low, the only way to advance is the retirement of seinored coworkers.
Pros
Great pay
Cons
No work life balance
