Do not work for this company
Security Officer (Current Employee) –  Greensboro, NCJune 25, 2017
This company is all about how much money they can put in their pockets and give the grunts or traditional security officers as little as possible to do their job. See uniforms and overtime cut into the higher ups annual bonuses and they don't want to give that money up meanwhile they get a company car, gas, and good pay. This company is beyond whack. They will have people driving 20-30 miles from their homes just to make $9 an hour. If you need a job avoid G4S use it as a last resort. When you first get hired good luck you may or may not be working. It usually takes them about a month to find you a location and when they do it will be part time hours. This company overhires and the turn over is sky high. Be prepared to work a double shifts everyday, because you can't leave the site until you get a relief. They will hire anyone that has a heartbeat and it doesn't matter if they can speak English or not. There is no advancement in this company it's a dead end job. Whatever site you get placed and whatever the wage is, is what you will get there is no negotiation. Don't expect a promotion or appreciation for showing up on time. They make you pay for everything background, fingerprints. and your licence fee which comes out of your paycheck every year except your picture will not change just the expiration date. Horrible insurance and benefits package it might as well be called take your money and run.
Pros
easy work
Cons
Pay, ignorant employees, no benefits and no communication

Amazing company to work with.
Unarmed Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Tempe, AZJune 22, 2017
Atypical day at work flys by. I've learned how to direct calls and control situations with customers. Managment works hand in hand with their employes. the hardest part of the job was having to be on one side of the building doing paperwork then recieve a phonecall to run all the way down to the other side of the building.
Pros
Lunch Breaks
Cons
Got to be on your A Game!

Good compensation, terrible work/life balance/ demanding schedule
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) –  Jupiter, FLJune 22, 2017
My particular manager had no business being a manager. He lacked communication skills, had no idea how to manage and in spite of hard work and endless/tireless hours was laid off with no reason. Worked there almost 3 years. No verbal or written warning, he did what he wanted with nobody to answer to. Worked an average of 50 hours a week. Long hours and even weekends. Executives line their pockets with bonuses and 6 figure incomes along with getting trips and BMW's but pay the poor guards who are the backbone of the company $10 an hour. Just unappreciative to who the actual frontline worker is and does.
Pros
Free coffee
Cons
terrible management, no loyalty to the employee

Traditional Security Officer (Former Employee) –  Morrisville, NCJune 21, 2017
I did not mind working there if they can actually put you on a site and keep you there. Having to move from site to site was not very fun or hard to plan where you were going to be going from one day to the next.
Pros
flexable working hours
Cons
management issues

Working for G4S has provided me with a lot of skills and experience that I can use in the future, whether it's with G4S, another security company or even in law enforcement. The work place is diverse and there is always going to be a need for security in the world.

Site Supervisor (security guard) (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TXJune 20, 2017
this company is a good place to work. they look after you if situations arise. the management lets you handle your business and does not micro manage. the pay and benefits are somewhat decent. almost all of the people who work under this company are friendly and helpful.

A Joke
Security Officer (Full-time) (Former Employee) –  Libertyville, ILJune 20, 2017
Yes, a joke of a company to work for. We are all just disposable monkeys for a global company. The site I worked for did not care about their staff at all. We all worked ridiculously hard, but the only time we saw managers was when some things hit the fan. No one has any persons back, it's all for themselves. Overtime was great but being held over sucked. If you care to have a life or you have a family, they don't seem to give a rats behind about you or your family.
Pros
paid breaks and lunches
Cons
to many to list

Zero communication
Security Guard (Current Employee) –  Tampa Bay, FLJune 20, 2017
Management and supervisors really have very little interaction or communication with employees. New policies are handed down from " someone else". Zero room for advancement and constant cutting of hours or changing schedules.

Shift Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNJune 20, 2017
As a Security Officer you will many times be the first person that people interact with. Maintaining a positive environment and experience will be one of the primary responsibilities of this role. In addition, the ideal Security Officer will observe and report activities and incidents, providing for the safety of client property and personnel; while making periodic tours to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

Security Guard (Former Employee) –  Peachtree City, GAJune 19, 2017
Hi tech company with university on site for training technicians. Secured building only security badges allowed access to employees or entrance at security desk. Twenty four hour site, third shift very quiet, building had cafeteria for lunch, medical emergencies handled by security and volunteer med. trained employees. Best part of this job was working relationship between management of building and security.
