Production Supervisor (Current Employee) – Erie,Pa – July 8, 2013
The most enjoyable part of my job is the people I work with. I have learned the full assembly of Locomotives. As a production supervisor I help promote safety in the work place. The hardest part of my job is keeping our team busy when parts are not available for assembly.
Painter/Laborer/Coil Winder (Former Employee) – Erie, PA – January 15, 2018
I enjoyed my job at GE. I was a painter who wore a harness & a painters air suit.I learned how to run a cradle crane. I would pick up a locomotive with a cradle crane and move it into a paint dock and get it ready to paint. I would have to check the mass vat of paint check paint lines, Paint gun, put suit on & start painting. Once Locomotive was dried I would move it out on the floor and inspector would come along and check it for any flaws. I would have to fill & fix any flaws with bondo & sand it down. Step handles, hand handles, screens would also be installed to the locomotives. Management would want 1 locomotive per person working on the floor at the end of the day. Hardest part of my job was trying to motivate my 7 other co-workers to get the locomotives done. Most enjoyable part of my job was painting. I love to paint. This was my 4th GE plant that I worked at. Sad they laid 1500 of us off.
