At General Motors, we are passionate about earning customers for life. This vision unites us as a team each and every day and is the essence of our customer-driven culture.
Our leadership guides the charge, setting higher standards for our company so that we remain at the forefront of the automotive industry. And with a devoted workforce of first-class talent, we have what it takes to accomplish the task.
Bold vision with a competitive spirit motivates our exceptional team: 212,000+ employees in 396 facilities across six continents. GM’s voice is a reflection of this widely diverse group of people, and furthermore, a reflection of the world we serve. We value all our team members’ unique contributions—developing new technologies, designing and engineering state-of-the-art vehicles, building quality products and creating new marketing plans to name a few. Cultivating a culture of inclusion is a priority that provides greater insight into the global marketplace.
From vehicle electrification and fuel cell technology to autonomous driving and mobile connectivity—GM is building the future of transportation today. We are the first to deliver an affordable, high-range electric car to the masses with the introduction of the 2017 Chevy Bolt. Since 2013, the team has been collaborating with Honda on advancing hydrogen fuel cell technology, with plans to open a factory and begin mass production of fuel cells by 2025.
And we’re ushering in the future of personal mobility, leveraging our recent investment in Lyft and acquisition of Sidecar to launch our car-sharing brand Maven. Maven, the expansion of our current “Let’s Drive NYC” pilot program in New York, provides on-demand transportation services worldwide. Customers can experience an unprecedented level of connectivity and personalization with our OnStar-enabled cars, including the ability to unlock, remote start, and even set heating/cooling preferences conveniently from their smartphone. Other digital services, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM radio, and 4G LTE wireless, are available inside Maven cars as well.
GM has long-term plans to build an integrated network of self-driving cars in alliance with Lyft. And we’re utilizing the latest in crowd-sourced, real-time mapping technology from Mobileye to achieve precise localization that fully supports autonomous driving. Mobileye’s “Road Experience Management” (REM) service uses incoming driver data to continuously refresh a centralized roadmap and help cars better understand their surroundings. Through our venture capital subsidiary, GM Ventures, we form strategic partnerships and investments to bring these new vehicles and technologies to our customers faster.
Everything we do is centered on our improving customers’ lives. That’s why we believe in acting responsibly in business, supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and preserve the environment. To date, the General Motors Foundation has made significant donations to support a host of nonprofit organizations, health/human services, worldwide disaster relief efforts, community outreach, veteran and scholarship programs and more.
Our sustainability efforts have positioned us as leaders in the areas of voluntary carbon reductions, clean energy patents, energy efficient manufacturing and solar technology. GM conserves resources and recycles materials whenever possible to reduce waste and pollutants. As an EPA ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, we’re making a lasting impact on the preservation of a greener earth. And our commitment will transcend the here and now through our work with students, as we share our knowledge of sustainability with these future engineers, leaders and problem solvers to help ensure a better life for all.
As we continue to push the boundaries of excellence, we’re looking for professionals who share our commitment to a better tomorrow. Bring your talent, passion and determination to General Motors, and become part of a revolution that’s designing, building and selling the world’s best vehicles. – less
