GRB Environmental Services, Inc. is a private company pursuing a multi-year contract with the NIH to provide Industrial Hygiene and Safety Support Services. The work will be located at the NIH Campus in Bethesda Maryland. GRB has a need for several candidates as defined below. Submission of resumes will be kept confidential. Personnel selected will be required to sign a Letter of Commitment stating that should GRB be awarded a contract that it is your intention to work on the contract. Experience at NIH facilities performing similar services as discussed below is a significant advantage.

Senior Industrial Hygienist/Project Manager

This position requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in industrial hygiene, public health, or occupational health and 15 years experience. Individual is required to have the following credentials: CIH. CSP. Required Specialized Experience includes the following:

Management Requirements

Managing government contracts, supervising personnel, interfacing with Contracting Officer Representatives, project execution, performed day-to-day management of contracts, and submission of monthly reports.

Prior experience includes work in a biomedical research facility managing complex occupational health and safety projects.

Technical Requirements

  • Writing or editing technical materials, such as written program documents, training programs, standard operating procedures, policy documents, reports and design specifications.
  • Prior work experience conducting occupational health and safety surveys and audits in a biomedical research laboratory and industrial facilities.
  • Conducting ventilation surveys
  • Developing personal and area sampling methodology for chemical, biological, and physical agents.
  • Performing complex indoor air quality and industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Conducting industrial hygiene program audits.
  • Evaluating sample results and translating results in concise technical reports

Ergonomist

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, public health, occupational health, ergonomics, or human factors engineering and a minimum of 3-years experience conducting ergonomic assessments. The position also requires the candidate to be either a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Professional Ergonomists (CPE). Specialized experience includes:

  • Appling expertise to develop muscular skeletal disorders, risk reduction and prevention strategies.
  • Performing ergonomic evaluations and workstation design.
  • Reviewing incident investigations to identify risk trends
  • Developing and customizes engineering and administrative controls to reduce MSD risks.
  • Develops and performs ergonomic training programs
  • Performs ergonomic assessments.

Industrial Hygiene Technician

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, public health, occupational health, ergonomics, or human factors engineering and a minimum of 3-years experience conducting ergonomic assessments. The position also requires the candidate to be either a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Professional Ergonomists (CPE). Specialized experience includes:

  • Appling expertise to develop muscular skeletal disorders, risk reduction and prevention strategies.

Chemical Hygienist

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5-years experience practicing as a safety specialist. Specialized experience includes:

  • Assisting staff in conduct of laboratory risk assessments from the facilities, engineering and containment perspectives.
  • Maintaining chemical inventories
  • Managing, responding, containing, and removal of laboratory scaled hazardous material incidents and spills
  • Conducting general industrial hygiene monitoring and occupational health services (e.g., respiratory protection)
  • Performing surveys and inspections to identify safety and health hazards and assessing compliance with federal, state and local safety regulations and standards. Prepares written reports documenting survey findings.
  • Deliver chemicals and pick-up chemical waste from labs and transport to hazardous waste accumulation area. Inspect accumulation area weekly, document, and correct any deficiencies.
  • Assist with accident investigations and root cause analyses

Administrative Assistant II

This position requires a High School degree or equivalent and 4-years of secretarial or administrative experience. Required specialized experience includes:

  • Providing non-technical support to staff
  • Providing a broad spectrum of administrative support including copying, collating, organizing materials, ordering supplies, conducting mailings, and provide on-site support such as registration and information desk services.
  • Experience in using the following software: word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and other administrative software products.

Industrial Hygiene and Safety Training Instructors – Levels II and III

These positions require a bachelor’s degree and 3-years or more experience teaching health and safety topics. Certified Emergency Services Instructor by the Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board is a plus. Specialized required experience includes:

  • NIH S.T.A.R.S (Safe Techniques Advance Research Science) training experience
  • Developing content and providing energetic instructions on courses related to industrial, construction, and laboratory safety
  • Managing course content, evaluations, administering and scoring of examinations and issuing certificates
  • OSHA Confined Space Training

Safety Specialist

These positions require a bachelor’s degree and at least 5-years experience practicing as a safety specialist in biomedical research environments. Possession of industrial hygiene or safety certifications is a plus. Specialized required experience includes:

  • Managing, responding, containing, and removal of laboratory scaled hazardous material incidents and spills
  • Assisting in conducting surveys and inspections pf ;abpratpries, animal holding areas, administrative areas, and other occupied and on-occupied spaces to identify facility and operational/procedural deficiencies that may result in increased risk to personnel. Prepare written inspection reports. Suggest corrective actions which can effect changes within the specific work environment of interest.
  • Conducting general industrial hygiene monitoring and occupational health services (e.g., respiratory protection)
  • Assisting with accident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Participating as a member of safety committees
  • Assisting with and maintaining documentation for decontamination procedures and associated biological validation.

Safety Behavior Expert

This position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 10-years experience in lecturing and speaking as an expert advisor with regards to safety. Specialized required experience includes:

  • Ability to define approaches to measure and manafe leading, comparative, and interactive safety measures
  • Assisting, evaluating, and facilitating organizations safety culture
  • Develop safety culture workshops and leadership training
  • Working with national organizations to improve corporate safety culture
  • Analyzing employee behaviors to identify traits that contribute to injuries.
