Consultant/Contractor (Current Employee) – Parsippany, NJ – November 6, 2017
Was interviewed for a position, but while i started working, it is only me who is working. Others sat back and started to irritate, torcher and bossed me around. Before entering know all the people in the team not only manager.
Production Worker (Former Employee) – Burgaw, NC – October 20, 2017
GAF was a great place to work the supervisors & Hr was just horrible.. When I started out there, they was all friendly an everything.. But a couple of months came down the line they really showed they true colors.. They treat the employees like you know what..
maintenance mechanic (Former Employee) – Savannah, GA – December 19, 2016
Routine maintenance and preventative-maintenance on 2 different plants. Regular scheduled routine on asphalt shingle mill. Regular inspection of pumps, motors, conveyors and all associated equipment.Hardest part--heat that's involved with the asphalt. Good folks to work with.
Company at corporate level-seems to really care for employees.
Laid-off regular employees, only to keep contractors doing same work. Myself included.
Shift Technician/TPO (Former Employee) – Mount Vernon, IN – November 2, 2016
Most of the hourly workers are great people, the pay is excellent and a strong company. After 11 years of employment was terminated for a false accusation, but the problem employees keep there job. If your a member of the good ole boys club you get a day job, otherwise your out of luck. Promote people that can't do the job. Never understood management's philosophy.
Production Worker (Former Employee) – Mt. Vernon, IN – October 28, 2016
Mt. Vernon Indiana plant is poorly managed. Ignorant HR staff. Lot of he said/ she said going on. They will fire people who show up every single day and do well in their jobs. But keep the ones they cant count on.They pit employees against each other and encourage disputes. Corporate needs to come in and clean house!
loader (Former Employee) – Garden City, GA – August 16, 2016
Great place. good people working on well maintained equipment. There were plenty of opportunities to work with knowledgeable co-workers. The teamwork and training are second to none. This was a great place to work.
Don't give employees enough family time off, got to constantly work long hours. You are basically told that it's mandatory for you to be there everyday and to call off you must call 2-3 hours ahead of your starting time, imagine starting at 6am and all of a sudden you're ready to leave for work at 5am and find out your daughter is very ill and you got to take her to the hospital all of a sudden, you do the math
they treat you as if your job is your life, long days and not enough time for family, of course unless you single.
The best part of this job was the great coworkers. The building is also lovely, pay is good, and I love the on-site gym.
Okay, now, for the bad part: HR is the PITS! You can apply for a different position, the hiring manager wants you and fights for you - and you still don't get it because "HR said so". What's the point of interviewing if the final decision is already pre-ordained by HR?
Management isn't much better. They let positions go unfilled, even when they are critical, to increase profits and their own bonusses. You won't get much recognition or thanks for a job well done. At the end of the day, they consider you to be expendable.
Nice building, great coworkers, gym on-site! Decent pay
