As GameStop's direct competitors back in the early 2000's, the store has it's work cut out for it. We did have a Hollywood Video, our parent store attached to us, so we opened when they did. After setting up any new signage or coupon deals for the day, we would take the latest video game titles and place them in our demo consoles for play by our customers and visitors from next door. Management was very loosely handled as visits from corporate were few and far between- there was a high turnover rate for employees at the store level as well.
While guidance was lacking at times, we gave our best effort to establish a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for people coming in to see what we had for sale. Coaching became a major part of the day to day with this company, which turned out well- it increased the synergy amongst the employees.
