GANTEC is a natural products technology company headquartered in Midland, Michigan. We develop new, large volume supplies of agriculturally-important natural products, and work with end-users and development partners to create sustainable, state-of-the-art products through high-quality supply and process development, formulation and testing. We use – more... cutting-edge technology, global resource networks, and high standards of community development to achieve sustainability and high-impact in both supply-side and end-use markets.
At GANTEC, we believe that some of the best opportunities occur at the interfaces between cultures, continents, technologies and industries. It is in such interfaces that the "foreign" becomes "familiar" and the under-utilized takes on new utility. It is in just such an interface that GANTEC has its roots.
It was the recognition that an under-utilized resource in West Africa, might provide a safe, multi-faceted way to enhance the ecology and productivity (e.g. an effective "greening") in the North American markets, and the economic "greening" and reforestation of Africa that led to the formation of GANTEC. Specifically, we identified the widespread, underutilized fruit tree, called "neem" (Azadiracta indica) as a potential key to achieving these objectives.
Neem is a fruit-bearing tree from the ash family and is common in many parts of Asia and Africa. Leaves, fruit and seeds from the tree have been used for centuries in India and other parts of Asia to treat disease, wounds, crops and animals in a variety of ways. The most notable attributes of neem, however, relate to its propensity to repel, modulate or otherwise reduce the populations of various insect pests.

Neem trees grow abundantly throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. This photo shows a typical neem-lined street in West Africa. In the foreground is a typical, mature neem tree having a height of 35-40 ft in height and a crown of the same size. The dense shade produces by the tree is a cherished commodity in the region. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
