Specific duties include but are not limited to:
The Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing network infrastructure and application components. Performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure computer networks are secure and perform optimally.
The Network Engineer also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network infrastructure best-practices. Works closely with internal server, database, desktop/help desk and application teams, as well as external partners to build and maintain a first-class enterprise network.
Be the subject matter expert for all LAN / WAN / VOICE network infrastructure and technologies.
Design, setup and configure complex switching / routing environments.
Configure and maintain Cisco/Juniper Firewalls, VPNs, systems and other network-based security appliances used to secure access to vital business applications.
Setup and configure complex wireless networks with ISA, which reliably support corporate data, voice and video applications.
Assist in administration of Microsoft DHCP Server for IP address schemes, DNS, DHCP.
Monitor, control and report on system state including configuration, capacity, utilization, performance, and availability statistics.
Manage assigned projects to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.
Oversee administration of network-related systems and servers to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
Troubleshoot malfunctioning network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
Ensure site badging and security systems remain operational
Configure, install, and support of all network, voice, video, security and wireless infrastructure across enterprise locations
Support and maintain all UCC and UCCX 9.x, H323, SIP voice infrastructure
Implement LAN/WAN, voice, wireless, and security solutions (Radius, ISA)
Continuously evaluate network infrastructure and provide recommendations for improvement
Configure and troubleshoot switch QoS
Install, support and maintain all Cisco (2900, 3700, 6500 nexus) switches, routers (2800,2900,3800)and firewalls (Juniper 550, ASA).
Configure and troubleshoot class of service
Configure and troubleshooting routing protocol BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
Perform high level decoding packet capturing
Work with outside vendors for quoting and ordering of hardware, software, licensing, and maintenance contracts
Maintain and update network diagrams and documentation
Assist in providing network support and troubleshooting to various IT teams.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field
CCNA/CCVP/CCNP or equivalent level network experience (Cisco routers, switches, VOIP and wireless).
Experience with VoIP (SIP, H323, CUCM 8.6-9.1) and MPLS (BGP) networking technology and concepts.
Extensive experience in high-uptime environments.
Minimum of 7 years of IT experience in various application delivery environments
Willingness to travel 30% of the time
Familiarity with SNMP is a plus
