In February 2016, W. R. Grace & Co. will separate into two independent, publicly traded companies. One of the two successor companies, to be renamed GCP Applied Technologies, will be comprised of Grace’s global Construction Products business segment and its market-leading Darex Packaging business.
As a worldwide industry leader with customers in over 150 countries, Construction Products develops, manufactures, and sells products through two units: Specialty Construction Chemicals (SCC) and Specialty Building Materials (SBM). SCC, with expected sales of $700 million, provides innovative products for commercial and residential construction including concrete admixtures, technologies and fibers, architectural concrete products, liquid pigments, cement processing additives, and concrete masonry products. SBM offers air and vapor barriers, roofing underlayments, structural waterproofing systems, residential building materials and fire protection products. SBM sales are expected to be approximately $400 million.
GCP products are specified by architects and engineers and are used by contractors, ready mix, precast concrete producers, and cement manufacturers. They enhance the durability, strength and appearance of structures in major construction projects, including the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the London Underground, the Dubai underground, Hong Kong's Bank of China Tower, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The company’s residential building materials are recognized by LEED and meet national green building guidelines.
For over 90 years, Darex Packaging has been a leading supplier of can sealants, closures, can coatings, and closure coatings for metal cans used in consumer and industrial applications. Darex Packaging is the global leader in can sealants. Sales are expected to be approximately $400 million.
