Store Manager (Former Employee) –  Thief River Falls, MN 56701March 27, 2017
it was a great job, but it was the wrong community for me and my family. The people interacted very well with each other. Training could have been better.

Great place to work at the store level
Employee (Former Employee) –  United StatesDecember 23, 2016
I enjoyed working at the store. However, all dealings with GCR on a corporate level were unbearable as the people in the corporate office clearly have no idea what goes on in the stores, nor do they seem to care. They have no desire to help employees.

Office Administration (Current Employee) –  Jacksonville, FLDecember 18, 2015
Store level attitudes don't always reflect Bridgestone's culture. If you're willing to work and put yourself out there, there are opportunities for advancement. And, the benefits are outstanding. Lots of change with processes...hopefully moving towards a more technologically focused company.
Pros
flexibility, benefits
Cons
inequality of pay/responsibility

Shop Mgr. (Former Employee) –  Phoenix, AZSeptember 22, 2014
For 13+ years workday included the scheduling of personnel to achieve completion of ordered product on time. Making sure inventory levels were correct so as not to run out of product to delay completion of orders.
Learned how to be a better mgr by controlling production hrs. and expenses. Inventory control.
Hardest part of the job was having to dismiss someone because of a lack of work.
Most enjoyable part was being able to teach others a craft that was enjoyable to do, and watch them succeed.

Note that my time in Phoenix was just a small part of my total time with GCR.

Final Inspector (Former Employee) –  Tallahassee, FLJune 11, 2013
This part of the company is located in florida, so it's very hot year round. My co-workers didn't take their jobs seriously and there was alot of horseplay and little production. The management rarely ever came out to observe the employees or to see if production was being met.
Pros
None
Cons
Too many to list, which is one of the many reasons for the lay-offs.

Office and Credit Manager (Current Employee) –  Harper, WVJanuary 14, 2013
A typical day at work is to run my daily reports for my manager to review and sign. Collect all billing that needs to be completed, complete, file and mail. Open the mail, do accounts receivable, answer any pending emails. Do National Account billing, do collections as needed. Answer the telephones and greet customer needs as they are directed to me. The hardest part of the job is that there is very little contact with the public other than via telephone or email.
Pros
job security
Cons
little face to face interaction with people
