Company Focus on Profit not Patients
Clinician (Current Employee), DanvilleJuly 15, 2014
Pros: big parking lot at danville location.
Cons: management focus on profit over care, poor morale, untrustworthy
Very difficult place to work compared to other health care facilities. Has a strong commercial underlying emphasis which reduces clinician ability to provide effective care. Unrealistic expectations by management with a "take it or leave it" philosophy since they are major employer in NEPA. I have never worked in a facility with such low morale and – more... distrust. – less

PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE (Current Employee), KingstonJune 16, 2014
Some days can be more stressful than others, but that is the same with any job. I love the people I work with but there isn't much room for growth and you are restricted to staying in a certain position for a certain amount of time before applying to other positions throughout the company.

Learned analytical skills but not much focus and directions on tasks to do. Management needs to be present and not on the phone traveling.

Geisinger is a large company with room for advancement when proper training is provided. They offer a fair health benefits and mileage reimbursement program. Met a lot of nice people

An Organization Advancing the Profession
Clinical Pharmacist (Current Employee), Danville, PASeptember 29, 2013
Pros: no weekends, no night shift, off national holidays, knowledgable/experienced peers
Cons: no overtime pay, short breaks, non-competative salary
Typical day involves the monitoring/adjusting of anticoagulants in the outpatient setting via in-person appointments (using point of care testing) or phone.

Management is receptive to suggestions/ideas and is always pushing for individuals to grow and advance their scope of practice

The most challenging aspect of the position is the daily patient – more... case workload; it is ever increasing as the different specialties begin to refer patients to the service. – less

A great learning facility/poor management
Laboratory (Former Employee), DanvilleJune 15, 2013
Pros: nice bonuses..good learning atmosphere..friendly staff
Cons: deceptive and shady management practices
I worked for Danville Geisinger for nearly 7 years. I loved my job. I was fortunate enough to have a job that put me in all kinds of places within the hospital, including the ER. The Drs were some of the friendliest I ever encountered. People were, for the most part, cheerful and pleasant to work with. However, Management in my department was sorely – more... lacking. My job required skill..and I was pretty much at the top of the list in that area. One of the dayshift "managers" (technical specialists) had a distinct dislike for me. I never knew what the reason was. I didnt know if it was because I preformed my job far better than her daytime workers..or what the issue was. There were times I was very close to contacting HR because of her treatment toward me. When a night shift management position came up I, along with several others, applied for it. When the dayshift manager found out she hit the roof. She scrambled around to find another person to apply for it. Once she found someone she then went to the Dept supervisor and bad mouthed me so that I had no chance of getting the job. I had a total of 10 years experience in my field. The Dept supervisor had been ready to give me the position until the dayshift manager spoke to her. The position went to someone with little experience..was not a "go to" person and had no formal education(college)and their previous job before Geisinger was as a stripper in a strip club. Needless to say that was pretty much the last straw for me. The Danville campus is very intense and stressful but it is a great place to learn since it is a teaching hospital. But management needs huge improvement. – less

Bullies for management
Nurse (Former Employee), DanvilleMay 23, 2013
Pros: benefits
Cons: management is a bunch of bullies
Never treated so unprofessionally. Was fired for taking a poddy break and not telling my preceptor, the preceptor who was on the phone constantly and texting. Boss was straight out of horrible bosses. Wrote me up for things that didn't exist, days I wasn't even there. So disappointed in Geisinger.

I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO WERE TREATED – more... BADLY BECAUSE NOBODY BELIEVES ME – less

Clicic Tech (Current Employee), Danville, PAMarch 3, 2013
Pros: benefit package
Cons: parking
Start the day by opening the clinic, booting up computers and start working up patients, doing vital signs and updating patient medications. I learn something new everyday, it's been a great experience the people I work with are awesome. The most enjoyable part of the job is greeting and meeting new people everyday and seeing patients get better with – more... continued care by our physicains. – less

Great Team Environment
Revenue Management Cycle, A/R Specialist (Current Employee), Moosic, PAJanuary 23, 2013
Pros: benefits, training, environment
Cons: salaries if transferred
We transitioned from CMC to Geisinger Glenmaura Campus which is very team oriented. The Manager is a Professional and outgoing person who has a great open-door policy. She is very fair. In reference to salary, they have great salaries if your hired by Geisinger as they know ur employment history and expectations, however, a need to update CMC employees – more... based on Geisingers starting salaries and experience (as some employees are well below Geisingers starting rates), needs to be re-evaluated expediently as some of us are still $2.50 less then Self Pays starting rates..I believe if made aware, however, they would correct this, therefore, Management may be a bit sluggish in this area as we need to be rexevaluated asap but it may not have been brought to their attention, as it seems they want to keep their good, hard working and dedicated employees who are very happy. Otherwise nothing to complain about. Great Company!! I would recommend this company to my best friends. Also, no non team playing Supervisors allowed :). – less
