I was very blessed to work at Genentech....great people, great vision, great products and pipeline. Spent over 8 years there and only moved to new position due to timing of reorganization....nothing bad to say about my experience.
Productive Work Flow and Awesome Culture Atmosphere

This was my favorite place to work. It was unfortunate that my assignment was cut short due to unusual family circumstances at the time, however, if I had another chance to work here, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Great company, mission and benefits. Problem with employee turnover and hiring from the outside. Didn't do a great job retaining good employees. Would recommend the company however leadership needs to understand how to manage a company culture better.

words that describe the culture at Genentech are Casual Intensity. Innovation. Work hard,, play hard culture. Amazing, talented people. Good marriage thus far with Roche funding and Genentech innovation.
Case Manager (Current Employee) – South San Francisco, CA – October 26, 2017
Access Solutions had a lot of wonderful features but the biggest con was job security. Being in a contract position you don't expect a ton of job security, however, it felt like people would get fired from this company every other day. I began to feel like another number, rather than an equal employee. Other than this I have enjoyed my time at Genentech. The cafeteria is great. It is a very modern style office. Training is great.
Genentech is very innovative and know for their break through science in biotech. The culture is relaxed but challenging. Advancement from within the company is much more difficult than if you were applying from outside.

Senior Manager (Former Employee) – South San Francisco, CA – October 18, 2017
Highly competitive environment with elitist hiring and management practices. Culture is good however 'fun' activities and events are fabricated and forced. Highly political and unforgiving environment. Perfection rules at this science-focused company. Benefits are outstanding and training is great.
benefits, pay, and work-life balance
unforgiving, political environment with elitist mentality
Quality Assurance Associate (Former Employee) – South San Francisco, CA – October 5, 2017
- typical day can be manage - able to cross train in other department - each mgmt. is different - workplace culture can be fair - the hardest part of my job is having longer hours (13 hours/12 hours) or can be longer due to meetings or training after end of shift - I enjoyed working with people, how I performed my job well, making sure documentations are clear, legible and errors free, drug products are pure, safe and effective for the patients.
