Clinical Laboratory Supervisor / Operations Manager

Location: San Diego, CA
Status: Full Time

Description

  • The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor / Operations Manager will direct CLIA laboratory operations and will join dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams responsible for client services, quality assurance, software, and ongoing clinical research. Willing to roll up sleeves, collaborate cross-functionally and have fun deeply integrating laboratory operations with other GenomeDx programs and growing with the Company.

Initial Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Operations

o Manage operations of CLIA laboratory including scheduling and monitoring diagnostic testing performed by Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS)
o Ensure specimens are received and accessioned, tests are performed accurately and reported promptly
o Independently identify and implement opportunities for workflow improvement including automation and capacity expansion
o Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues affecting test performance
o Develop and maintain hands-on proficiency in all aspects of test procedures

  • Client Services

o Address client services inquiries related to testing and coordinate with other client services team members regarding other client needs
o Track specimen shipments and confirm delivery/return of send outs

  • Quality Assurance

o Measure and maintain key laboratory quality metrics including turnaround time, proficiency testing and quality control parameters
o Document and review laboratory quality procedures as a Quality Assurance Committee member
o Review QC records generated by CLS
o Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations

Qualifications

  • Active California Department of Public Health Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (no exceptions)
  • At least four (4) years experience in high complexity clinical laboratory testing of molecular diagnostics
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and a relationship builder
  • Strong computer skills across diverse platforms; automation experience a plus
  • Bachelor degree in science; advanced degree a plus
