Pros: the good people, free coffee & soda
Cons: unqualified upper & mid management, healthcare, work environment
Do not confuse the new Gentex with the old Gentex, it left when the Fogg rolled into power. The fog may be gone but the politicans who kissed up are still in power, the CEO seems to be out of touch with the reality.
I loved this company when I started but they have steadly declined promoting arrogant, political, and sometimes incompetent managment.
– more... So "financial" difficulties, ROI issues, not profitabilty, have set in due to the number of gaffs by management. They took their eye off the ball and wallowed in their own greatness, putting all the eggs in one product basket, riding existing products without improving or re-developing them, over-reaching their capabilities, ignoring the customer needs, building uneeded recurring costs into products, and introducing quality issues because they don't understand the function.
Now for the last 6 months they have been letting all of the good experienced people go, all people who have higher wages, vacation, and stock options, read that for what it is. All of this violates at least 2 if not 3 of the fabled Gentex Foundations. Anyone with 8+ years of experience can expect a pink slip. They are the ones paying for it rather than those who are the root cause.
I am looking for a new job. – less

You mean Gentex in Pennsylvania not Michigan.
