Large Evolving Company
Manager (Current Employee), GAAugust 31, 2015
Pros: Still a relationship based company
Cons: Size slows change
GPC as a whole has its heart set on maintaining itself as an industry leader across a broad spectrum of businesses. The true test comes in the mid-level positions that will be responsible of the day to day that can really move the needle in the area of employee relations. It is evolving, but in pockets may seem very backwards. But one thing is for sure, they value the employee and listen. With some stick-to-it-tiveness, you can see your difference in the area you work in.

Delivery Driver (Former Employee), Cheney, WAAugust 28, 2015
Pros: Great hours, great people, fun job, freedom
Cons: Repetitive
Working at NAPA was the best job I've ever had. I was a delivery driver so I drove to different mechanics or body shops throughout most of my shift. I got to listen to the music I wanted and make friends with our customers. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, but I think most of the fun I had there happen to be because of who I worked with.

Store Manager (Former Employee), Poway CaAugust 19, 2015
Pros: Learned alot about managing the everyday needs of a staff
On a typical day I would open the store by getting the cash drawers ready, checking in overnight freight to be delivered, making sure all employees arrive on time to work with necessary breaks and lunches. Make sure all deliveries are done correctly and in a timely manner. Keep delivery vehicles maintained. Work with customers on any extra or custom parts orders or problems. With about twenty employees including an outside salesman, assistant and weekend manager, eight delivery vehicles in a 12,000 sq ft building, Typical was not the usual.

Warehouse and Inventory Management Specialist (Former Employee), Daly City, CAAugust 12, 2015
Pros: Driving was fun
Cons: Pay was not worth the amount of physical work
Driving took up most of my day at NAPA, which was the most enjoyable part of the job for me. However, management wasn't great. I was not learning much with the point-of-sale system and was not getting much training. I learned a lot of things on my own. Schedules weren't always in sync either - there were times when I would request for a day(s) off and although the day(s) would get approved, I would get a call asking why I'm not at work.

Pros: A good amount of breaks
Cons: Long hours
They are good to their employees. The compensation is better than average. A typical day is full of hard work and sweat. The company gives you breaks pretty frequently. Management is good and so is the human resources department.

Dispatcher/Customer Service (Former Employee), Bountiful, UTJuly 25, 2015
Pros: Teamwork
Enjoyed working in a team environment with great managers. Excellent Learning Environment which allows for many channels for personal growth.

The work experience in managing the drivers, creating performance reviews and ensuring proper delivery schedules were met and truck maintenance scheduling.

Inventory management within the store was a great a great assignment that allowed me to point out weaknesses in inventory management software that would help in identifying specific inventory variance and leading to understanding the causes.

worked with my co-workers to establish better inventory methods reducing the seek time significantly.

in the five years that I worked at the Bountiful, Utah store each and every day was exciting, interesting and learning experience.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Phoenix, AZJuly 22, 2015
Pros: Lots of sales incentives and customer appreciation
Cons: long days and weeks at a time without rest
Every day is a new experience. Lots challenges both physical and mental. Daily Quotas are established to support self growth and company image. Enjoying what one does best is knowing that you can thrive through challenges. Customer satisfaction brings value to your day. Having a well trained staff that supports your decision making at all costs and seeing your team members mature as they grow with the company are one of the many enjoyable experiences in this company. A positive attitude is something that can be shared with all. Daily warehouse duties such as shipping and receiving, inventory management, simple stock corrections and store merchandising are part of normal day.
