Was not a pleasant place to work, lots of distrust, people cutting corners, only seemed to want to make money and nothing more
Rolling Stock Maintenance Lead (Former Employee), Warm Springs, GA – February 23, 2013
Pros: steady work hours, nice front entrance
Cons: managment, outdated equipment, lack of training, cutting corners, unsafe practices
Management was only worried about the budget, little or no training, unsafe practices from management, not a family atmosphere, most employees scared to speak up, old equipment and outdated equipment used with little effort to replace, did not have proper tools for mechanics, EPA and OSHA violations, was one of the most inhospitable places I ever worked, – more... it did have some really great people that worked there but their talents were suppressed by the lack of good management. – less

I would not accept a salary position at this mill again.
E&I Supervisor (Former Employee), Bedford, VA – February 19, 2013
Pros: good place to work
Cons: leadership lacks
Would not take a salary position at this mill, no guideline of rules set for salary persons, salary is a click and if you are not in that click you work some long hard days. I worked for this company for 30-years and because I became disabled I was let go.

DO NOT WORK FOR MT.OLIVE PLANT !!!!!
production employee (Former Employee), Mt. Olive , IL – February 15, 2013
terrible place to work , many workers using tobacco products , supposed to be tobacco free , management is terrible they work you for your 90 day probation period and then they get rid of you , midnight supervisor needs to learn how to manage, not pick and choose who will work hard and who gets to sit on the butts all night .

Forklift Operator (Current Employee), Sweetwater, TX – February 10, 2013
Pros: free lunch and good pay
Cons: lots of hours to work
A very decent place to work at. Allows great benefits and good pay. All though there could be better work place as cleaner and safer, its good for a retirement job and would recommend anyone to work there.

Privately own progressive working environment
Reliability Manager (Current Employee), Savannah, GA – February 10, 2013
I have worked at two different Georgia Pacific facilities and under the business managment and leadership of Koch Industries, I have seen continous growth of the company. Because its privately owned there is no pressure to satisfy shareholders. Every decision is based off of long term value creation. The only thing to be cautious of is their compensation – more... philosophy. If you are the type of person that thinks you should get a raise every year just because you still are employed, then Koch Industries and Georgia Pacific is not your you. To learn more about the company I would encourage you to read Charles Koch's book the Science of Success and it will explain the Market Based Management (MBM) system that governs the company. – less

Average place to work.
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee), Augusta, GA – February 10, 2013
Pros: most of the time you worked 7 1/2 hours a day but got paid for 8. not a bad deal. paid lunch!
Cons: benefits, hostile work environment, and if you worked in maintenance like i did you basically lived at work.
Poor managements, outdated and dangerous equipment, team work did not exist.

extremly long hours and on call
Press Operator- Quality Control (Former Employee), Kansas City, MO – January 30, 2013
Pros: some free lunches
Cons: short breaks and long hours. 16 hour a day on call
I found this job to be repetitive with too many hours and on call status. I could not adjust to any one schedule. I did learn about corrugated materials and quality control. The management was a bit one sided, but did focus on safety. My co-workers seemed friendly for the most part and helpful in adapting to my job duties. The hardest part of the job – more... was the hours worked. The most enjoyable part of this job was being part of a winning team. – less

Machine Operator (Current Employee), Chicago, IL – January 28, 2013
Commit to the highest producing die cutter in the plant while working with a knowledgeable and energetic staff to commit to the customers needs and focuses. I dont feel there is a hardest part of the job considering that we all work as a team to get our ideas commited and orders out the door
