Supervisor (Former Employee), Statesboro, GA – December 4, 2014
At my unit, the management was easy going, and attentive to the needs and skills of the team. Everyone had responsibility and everyone was held accountable for their actions.
Honestly the most difficult part of the day was just dealing with customers, but then again, they are mostly incoming college students, On the other hand, some customers make – more... your day easier, just by being themselves. – less
Administrative Secretary (Current Employee), Statesboro, GA – August 31, 2012
Pros: monday thru friday-no holidays or weekends-great health plan
Looking to work at a very professional school of higher education. I am very organized, multitasker, very focused. The hardest part of any job would be making everybody happy and the most enjoyable part would be working with a team and everybody enjoying what they do. I enjoy learning new things and working with people who will help me to build on my – more... current skills.
A typical day at work for me would be very organized, and planned from beginning to end. – less
Multicultural Student Center, Program Assistant (Former Employee), Statesboro, GA – August 15, 2012
Pros: free food, friendly work environment
Cons: non-traditional work hours
A work day is usually packed. Everything is focused on the student so if your not meeting with students you are working with other professionals to improve services for students. The work environment was calm and friendly with good job security and ok benefits. How you were regarded as professional depended on a variety of factors , but if you make – more... the effort to make connections you can do well. The hardest part of the job would be the crazy hours worked. Depending on what is going on with students you can work 12-14 hours day or regular eight hours days. Making sure you keep life in balance can become a little challenging. The best part of the job is the friendly and supportive work environment. – less
Resident Advisor (RA) (Former Employee), Statesboro, GA – June 30, 2012
I had a blast as an RA on campus years ago. The job was fun and my boss was cool. But as with any job it all depends on your co-workers (other students) or your bosses (Also students and sometimes lacking in experience). But It gave me an experience of a lifetime.
Student Assistant (Current Employee), Statesboro, GA – June 4, 2012
Pros: learning new things
Cons: not enough work hours
I would come in and work and complete assignments such as updating employee files. I would post job ads for the school. I also answered the phones from time to time. My co-workers were easy to get along with. I learned different skills that pertain to human resources.
High paced environment that was always evolving but with many rewards.
Casual Labor (Former Employee), Statesboro, GA – April 24, 2012
Pros: high paced environment with motivating management.
Cons: job ended because of funding.
Each day was unique in it's own way. With so many programs to run and 15 counties to supervise it was a very high paced work environment. My staff was very dilligent in their work and management was always there to support me.
Institutional Student Assistant (Current Employee), Statesboro, GA – March 18, 2012
I worked three different part time jobs while enrolled at Georgia Southern. All three experiences were good. Supervisors were willing to work with my class schedule. Increased opportunity for advancement and salary would have been helpful. I often felt that there was little motivation extrinsically to go above and beyond.
– less
