3 years experience in lab (for me at least, need at least 2 semesters in the lab, but the more the better). Apply to lab, be the best at stats in lab, apply for specific position.

Less than a month. After interviewing and being offered the position, HR processed my paperwork in a timely manner. They were prepared to handle paperwork had I needed a work visa as well, and this would not have been an obstacle to my being hired.
