My work was really enjoyable but there were difficulties with completing important tasks because the Engineering department would claim ownership. There was never disagreement as to the importance but I was left hanging after doing most of the root cause analysis and suggested resolution. As a Manufacturing Engineer and being fully capable it was troubling to have this often occur. Besides the frustration I still like the work and was always busy. Geospace has good engineering technologies but could be criticized as a manufacturing entity as the processes were really antiquated. A prime example was the initial certification of ISO in 2014/2015. In my mind this company has a long road to go with respect to manufacturing. Yet, I enjoyed most of the people and I liked my work. HR was one of of the best Human Resources that I've ever worked with at any company. The benefits were very good with a rich medical plan. That was offset as raises were rare. I never got one in three years and I heard a lot of people never got one. Turn-over however was minimal and management retained their staff well into the oil downturn in 2015-2016. At which time I was let go.
I guess you may say there is good and bad for all companies. If asked to work there again, I would but with maybe some agreements before hand.
