The German-American International School, located in BEAUTIFUL Menlo Park, California, just 25 miles south of San Francisco and next door to Palo Alto, home of Stanford University. Menlo Park is in the Silicon Valley and is considered one of the most desirable places to live in the Bay area.

The GAIS Mission
The German-American International School (GAIS) mission is to provide an outstanding international, bilingual education focused on inquiry-based learning with the goal to foster confident, creative and responsible learners and global thinkers.

We are looking for an additional English and Humanities teacher with the following requirements for the new academic year 2013/2014:

The teacher is responsible for teaching the subjects of IB MYP English, Humanities in English to students in Grades 5-8. The Humanities program encompasses a world perspective of History within the timeline of 8000BC up to World War II. It also integrates Geography components. In addition to classroom instruction, the teacher will be expected to participate in supervision duties, staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops and various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that promote the schools programs and reputation. The school operates from 8:30 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.

Teachers must have a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Education, or equivalent teaching qualifications from their country of origin, and at least two years experience teaching the appropriate subject at the Middle School level. Our school is looking for committed, motivated and enthusiastic native English teachers with excellent organizational and teamwork skills, dynamism and energy, as well as the ability to see children as individuals.

  • Share in our values of creating a motivating environment, to enable the development of self-confidence and responsibility, especially toward learning, cooperation and tolerance
  • Have experience with the International Baccalaureate MYP Program
  • Experience in youth leadership

Contract Information
The contract is for one year and is renewable on a yearly basis by mutual agreement.
The average salary rage for full time teachers is $55,0000 depending on qualifications and experience. The school offers a health plan, travel and visa assistance.
