Number 1 currency fx brokerage house
Foreign Exchange Currency Options Broker (Former Employee) –  New York, NYMay 23, 2016
Long days since you were involved in an international market.

I learned global currencies.

Wealthy, down to earth CEO who started as a broker like everyone else.

Working with brokers from around the world was very interesting.

The hours were difficult. 7:00am until 5:00pm every day plus entertaining 3 times a week plus weekends.

Traveling to London & Tokyo was fascinating.

You got to learn a lot. Not a bad starting point to gain financial knowledge.
Quite some talented technical people.
Not much for career advancement.

not a stable company. They are being bought out by another copier vendor. Because of this, most Management left and we were unable to fulfill orders or take care of our customers.
Pros
not many

Very safe, large company
Broker (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJune 9, 2012
I would arrive in the Financial District for work each day, the building was very nice including a cafeteria inside. The work day was fairly routine but enjoyable. Once again a bad market made this job difficult to piece together as many deals as one likes however being a large company the data transferred from offices around the world greatly helped.

Great culture, challenging environment
Senior Manager (Current Employee) –  New York, NYApril 29, 2012
Generally, my time at GFI has been very positive, however, challenges to the company have negatively impacted my and others career growth. Until the broker/dealer space recovers from its current "funk", relying on GFI and similar organizations for career advancement will end up being short-sighted.

It's great people, but again, global challenges make success difficult to attain.
