OK place to work
Manager of MRO Engineering (Former Employee), Fort Worth, TX – January 4, 2013
Pros: job with bennifits
Cons: management with little mro background
The company could have exceptional growth potential with a ledarship team that better understands the aerospace MRO market.
Substantial investments in the "nitch market" repair business could have increased the EOM financial forcasts the initial investment ROI could have seen profitability sooner rather than later.

The worst place I ever worked
Senior Metallurgical Technician (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – November 3, 2012
Pros: no pros
Cons: lousy insurance, rude management, extremely low/bad pay
Non- Lab people in charge of the lab. They DO NOT havy any idea how to run a lab. I had 25 years of xperience, and they started me at $44,000 per year. The other technicians with LESS EXPERIENCE were making $70,000+. The lab management was totally inexperienced and NO KNOWLEDGE of lab procedures. The lab manager was totally unqualified and a smart-alec – more... to boot!! She had no lab experience at all and was EXTREMELY rude to employees . Terrible place to work. – less

stay far away from this union company. wages are to high to be competitive. old boeing employes hanging around waitn for pennys on the dollar. company employeys(non union) have a revolving door. go on a interveiw and find out why they have so many "chanegles" just ask h.r. how they have a 15% turn over??

Sweat shop/do more with less
Human Resources Specialist (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – August 28, 2012
Corporate policy "do more with less", coworkers are supportive, management is aloof and lacks compassion for workers, consistent layoffs

Good – September 22, 2012

GKN "St. Louis" was by far the worst company that I have ever worked for. Their costs are out of control and they have no idea how to handle except to find the next person to blame. They have no idea how to treat employess and their # 1 customer. I would run from this one. However, if they like you, you may get promoted to run Mexicali! I guess that's a promotion?

nate – September 24, 2012

I was a machinist at GKN for 9yrs till i got laid off. caues gkn stock pilled parts for a strike that never happen, Mainly they just want more for less! frito lay truck driver and steak n shake management running a machine shop. Sounds like they are getting more for less!

Although it was good money and benefits the management at this place really made it a tough place to work. I got to the point to where i wasnt happy when i woke up to go to work everyday and thats not like me. So my wife and i planned a move to california to pursue our dreams, and well here we are.

Productive and very interesting work
Bonding Mechanic (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – May 4, 2012
The day started out with inspecting my tooling for lay-up. When completed, the job was started until the composite was finished.
I learned about pre-preg composite material and the procedure of the out come of the product.
I worked with many different types of people. I got along very well with all.
I did not find anything hard with this position that – more... I had I am a fast learner.

poorly managed will be out of business in 3-4 years
Bonding Mechanic (Current Employee), Hazelwood, MO – April 30, 2012
Pros: $30 hr
Cons: eveything else
would not recommend GKN aerospace for a place to work poorly managed no loyalty to their workers all talk of quality but all they want is quantity we are building airplanes parts if they fail somebody looses their life but all GKN sees is a dollar sign which is sad but in the past of this company it is what they do they buy companys drain them of all – more... profit and move on they have used the st louis plant to buy smaller plants and have put no more money back into the st louis building falling apart tools outdated boeing gave millions to GKN to refurbish tooling the misused the money by allocating to other things that we have never seen just heard about people with many hard years in their building that business when it was Mc donald douglas aerospace and Boeing are losing their jobs fast because in 12 years this company has ruined what James Mc donald built with one plane design and a dream he would roll over in his grave if was to see what it has been turned into – less
