EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY AT LAKE CITY VA CENTER
Education: Must posses a bachelor degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or in a related science, and completion of a medical technology clinical practice program. Both the education and clinical practice program must have been approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
Be Certified as Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist given by the
American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Registry (ASCP-BOR), the National
Credentialing Agency (NCA), American Association of Clinical Chemists (AACC),
AmericanMedical Technologists (AMT), or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
2) The qualifications of all personnel shall be subject to review by the VA Chief of Path &
Lab Medicine Service and approval by the VA Facility Director.
Experience. One years of relevant work experience required.
a. Possess written documentation that the individual is a American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency (NCA) certified medical technologists
b. A full, current, and unrestricted ASCP or NCA certification to practice medical technology in a state, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Medical technologist’s who have current, full and unrestricted certifications in one or more states, but who have, or have ever had a certification restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action, or denied upon application shall not be considered for the purposes of this task order.Must be able to perform phlebotomies when required on inpatients.
Must have no physical condition that prohibits standing or ability to lift up to 30 nds.
g.Must be able to work without direct supervision.
h.Must be able to work independently in a laboratory environment.
i.Must be computer literate, as SVAMC utilizes Computerized Patient Record System, VISTA and VBEC Blood Bank software system. The candidate shall have computer and typing skills. Computer training and access will be provided on the first day of service. Sharing of computer access codes is prohibited.
j.The contractor employee will document patient care to comply with all VA and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. As VA routinely reviews and updates policies and procedures covering contractor computer access, this contract may be modified to reflect new policies and procedures implemented during the term of this agreement.
k.Other necessary personnel for the operation of the services contracted for at the VA will be provided by the VA at levels mutually agreed upon which are compatible with the safety of the patient and personnel and with quality medical care programming.
l.The services to be performed by the contractor will be in accordance with VA policies and procedures and the regulations of the medical staff by laws of the VA facility.
m.Relationships with management, co-workers, patients, and the general public are consistently courteous, respectful, and cooperative in nature. Incumbent will display a cooperative attitude and will effectively work together to implement the organization’s mission and goals. Incumbent will ensure productivity is maintained at the established level for the program for which he/she is responsible.
n.Must be fluent in written and spoken English proficiently
