Teaching Children to Learn and Explore
Toddler teacher (Former Employee), Kennesaw, GA – February 11, 2013
A typical work day was fun energetic atmosphere. I learned classroom management and lesson planning. The management had no clue how to run a work place. but they did know how to put on a fake front for parents. The hardest part of the job was handling the management. The most enjoyable part was the kids and how amazing they were!!

fun workplace
Teacher (Current Employee), Waldorf, MD – December 28, 2012
Pros: i get to make a difference in a child life
Cons: cant move up, big turn around
The Goddard School is a great school. The learning potential is endless. The children learn so much, and the teachers are outstanding. My typical day includes opening the school and greeting everyone to ensure smooth transistions. I learned that children are sponges, they pick up everything so you have to put your best foot forward at all times. I love – more... working with people and being one of the first positive interactions they have in the morning. – less

Awesome place to work BUT...
Assistant Teacher (Former Employee), Sugar Hill, GA – September 28, 2012
Pros: friendly staff members (with the exception of my main teacher)
Cons: the favoritisim i mentioned in my review.
There was favoritism going on here big time. If you had a complaint against one of "there people" as a new hire you might as well keep your mouth shut. As for what I learned at this job: just exactly how untrustworthy people are and going to the boss is not always the best thing to do. A typical day of work was busy except for when the students were – more... napping. I truly enjoyed almost everything about my job here with the exception of my lead teacher. – less

Great place to work just needs benefits
Lead Teacher in the toddler room (Current Employee), North Aurora IL – August 15, 2012
Pros: families. students. atmosphere. flexible with hours/time off etc
Cons: healthcare not available
I love working at the North Aurora Goddard because of the staff and families. 4 years after I started, I have gained so much more than i can put into words. It gave me classroom experience managing behavior while giving instruction, gave my experience doing conferences and having to deal with parents, on top of lesson planning and decorating my classroom. – more... I will be very sad to leave but I am looking forward to having a classroom of my own. – less

Fun but tough work environment with lots of rewards
Assistant Teacher/Substitute (Current Employee), Toms River, NJ – July 24, 2012
Pros: weekends/holidays off, on-call, very flexible with my school schedule
Cons: no healthcare or benefits, on-call, tiring, long work days
A typical day at work would include filling in where they needed me throughout the day. I would sometimes be with one year olds all the way up until kindergarten. Tasks would include playing with children, getting snack ready, cleaning up snack, changing diapers, potty breaks, organizing lunch, cleaning the classroom, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, – more... setting up and getting children down for naptime then properly signing children in and out of classrooms. I've learned that it's very important to start saying words and things to children when they are very young so they can learn themselves asap. The management at Goddard is amazing. They are loving towards all the students and keep a clean, professional relationship with all employees. My co-workers are great. Some can be a little hard to handle and make it seem like they don't need any help where others will give me some responsibility and make me feel like we're part of a team and teach me things along the way. The hardest part of the job is when we have to discipline a child. Also, for all the work we do I feel the pay should be a little bit higher because it's alot more interactive than most jobs however it is the most rewarding. I enjoy when the children are laughing and all seem to be having a good time and by the end of the day they are excited to come back tomorrow. – less

Productive workplace helping children learn and play
Assistant Teacher (Former Employee), Doylestown, PA – July 19, 2012
Pros: free lunches
Cons: beneifits were very costly
A typical work day involved teaching and caring for children. I learned how to effectively keep peace and order in an environment. The management was supportive and helpful but could have been more involved when asked. My co-workers were very dedicated and taught me a lot about how to properly achieve goals within the work place. The hardest part about – more... the job was transiting from one activity to the next but was very exciting at the same time. The most enjoyable part of the job was watching children develop and learn, I also really enjoyed creating art projects for them to do. – less

great location and constructed building, poor management and structure.
Teachers Assistant (Former Employee), Middletown, NJ – July 12, 2012
Pros: great space, playgrounds, supplies, children
Cons: poor use of supplies, teaching was poor. babysitting instead of teaching
go to classroom early greet the children and parents
serve breakfast
diaper changes if needed
started the day with lesson plans
cleaned classrooms and stayed late.

Learned how to teach children in most positive way, learned how to do teachers duties.

management was ok, not very structured, would hide things that may happen with students from their – more... parents.
co-workers some were very nice and worked well with other co-workers and students, some were not quite able to handle children and classroom duties.

most enjoyable part of my job was doing arts and crafts with the children and singing songs, watching all the kids faces light up, their creativity and asking for help when needed, – less

Great kids but difficult work environment
Assistant Teacher (Current Employee), Chester, VA – May 31, 2012
I have learned a lot about the child care business and what it means to be a superb child care provider. There is a lack of communication between management and staff. Some environments become hostile when staff members have an altercation and management doesn't try to resolve the issues. The most enjoyable part of the job is the activities, field trips – more... and engagement with the children. Hardest part of the job is lack of communication and difficutly of scheduling desired hours. – less

This was an awful place to work, and an awful learning environment for children!
Teacher Assistant (Former Employee), Towaco, NJ – May 30, 2012
Pros: children are alowed creative freedom.
Cons: children allowed to run wild, which result in employees being physicaly abused by the children.
I would never recommend anyone to work here or send their children to this school. The owners had no respect or regard for their employees, and parents were told only what they wanted to hear. The "golden rule" for this school was positive reinforcement, they however did not train or teach employees how to do this effectively. The result was children – more... running wild. I was bit, hit, kicked, punched, and had things thrown at me everyday. It got so bad my boyfriend and friends thought someone was beating me. I left as soon as I could, along with many of the people I worked with. – less

Not a bad place to gain experience in your field. Typically does not pay a lot overall. Met many nice people there as contacts.
