ASSOCIATE MANAGER (Former Employee), Elizabeth City, NC – March 5, 2013
Pros: bonus, free meals, paid vacation
Cons: high insurance, 55-60 hr work weeks, 1 day off only
GOLDEN CORRAL OF ELIZABETH CITY. IS A GOOD COMPANY BUT DOES NOT COMPENSATE ITS EMPLOYEES WELL. THEY RATHER WORK YOU AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MONEY POSSIBLE WITHOUT EVEN APPRECIATING THE JOB YOU HAVE DONE.THE STAFF AND PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND HAS A GREAT ATMOSPHERE. IF ONLY THE OWNERS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES THEY – more... WOULD BE A BETTER COMPANY. – less
Server (Former Employee), Lufkin, TX – June 15, 2013
A typical day at Golden Corral as a server consisted of basically attending to the customers in your specific area and being consistant with your service. I also was one of the servers that had to close at night. My duties were to sweep and mop the floors, restock cups, ice, clean the ice tea makers, clean the soft drink machine, make sure all the silverware – more... was filled and that all other areas were clean as well – less
Hot Cook, cold prep, disher, and breakfast cook (Current Employee), Virginia Beach, VA – June 11, 2013
Pros: willing to work with school schedule for college students.
Cons: short to no breaks, no benefits, few hours
The management overall are pretty nice. They are willing to help you when needed and are kind of understanding when it comes to "unforeseen circumstances" that can come up. The co-workers are great. They are all very friendly and nice. The most enjoyable part about the job is being able to have face-time with the guests. Being able to talk to them and – more... get to know "the repeaters" on a more personal level makes going to work like I am visiting good friends. – less

Front of the House (Former Employee), Jacksonville, NC – June 4, 2013
I only worked here for a very short time as I needed to earn money to fly back to California. I opened the restaurant, counted the register, made sweet tea, made sure glasses, coffee cups and trays were cleaned and stocked. I greeted guests, took drink orders and rang them up at the register. I was also responsible for cleaning the front lobby and outside – more... windows and garbage. My boss was a very kind man who would help anyone if he could. I only worked there a month, but never had any issues with communication or scheduling. My co-workers were very agreeable people, I had no issues with them at all. There was no hard part to the job. The most difficult thing was getting to work as I had no vehicle of my own, but that had nothing to do with the position. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to interact with people on a daily basis. – less

Hospitality Manager (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, IN – May 28, 2013
Pros: my huge customer base.
Cons: long days led to an unbalanced lifestyle.
Golden Corral is a proven leader in the food industry. They only accept excellence, but they pay above average with lucrative bonuses. As a Hospitality Manager, I was given a full sense of ownership for MY dinning room. Led me to the ability to hire and coach a great team of caring hosts, cahiers, and servers. Great service is hard to come by these – more... days, over a seven year period, we in Fort Wayne became the buffet, restaurant of choice. Most enjoyable part of the job was setting up and delivering a great experience to each and every guest. My co-workers were and are like family. Golden corral taught me how to become a better visionary in striving for excellence while practicing it each and every day ! – less

Line Attendant (Former Employee), St. Louis, MO – May 21, 2013
Pros: interacting with lots of people was great
Cons: no real advancement opportunities
Overall, this was the easiest job in the world. It was dealing with customers and management that was difficult. No real leadership involved. If an employee needed a manager, he/she often has to go on a search to find them, sometimes leaving customers fuming for up to 15 minutes. It was often hard to tell customers things are being done in a certain – more... way "because we said so". – less
