Activities (Current Employee), Indianapolis, INJuly 16, 2014
Cons: short breaks, healthcare, pay is low because residents are on medicaid
A typical day is filled with providing enriching activities for residents and keeping up with annual assessments. Overall, it's a great and rewarding job to be able to make a difference in people's lives.

I worked the PM shift for up to 30 patients.
RN Supervisor (Former Employee), Redding, CAJuly 14, 2014
Pros: getting to know the patients and their families over a long period of time.
Cons: high turn over in management.
My days were fairly busy taking care of 30 patients, dressing changes, antibiotic lab draws, care of PICC lines and portacath care. My co-workers were helpful and eager to assist when needed. I learned computer charting via Point Click Care. The most enjoyable part of my job was getting to know the patients as this was a long term facility. The hardest – more... part of the job was dealing with new management as their was a high turn over. – less

Fun place to work with a good staff. The staff didn't always want to bring the patients down but they would generally do it.

Best Job Ever!
Accounts Receivable Specialist III (Former Employee), Conyers, GAJuly 10, 2014
Pros: everything!
Cons: office closing. i could have been there for 20 more years.
I loved working for Golden Living. I was not micro managed, great pay, loved my co-workers, very family friendly, and great group of people. We all strived for the best and we all were held accountable for progress. I truly loved my job. I worked as the only MSP biller for 75 skilled nursing facilities over 4 states. I worked one on one with facilities, – more... insurance plans, patients, families, attorney's, liability plans, and more to ensure that claims were billed, paid, and posted timely. So sad that this company relocated to AR. We were all given compensation for not moving and were treated very fairly. – less

Boring Job, but great staff
Receptionist (Former Employee), La Porte, INJuly 8, 2014
Working only Sundays was a very boring time, but the time flew by because I was basically my boss, and got to do whatever I wanted. There were times that I wanted to work more time, and they were given to me most of the time!

Was a good place at first
Med/Treatment Nurse (Former Employee), Wilkes-Barre, PAJuly 8, 2014
Pros: co-workers and patients
Cons: management, stressful work environment, lack of supplies/medications
I thoroughly enjoyed my job until new management was brought in. There were daily threats on your license if things were not completed on time. Normally this wouldn't be an issue if supplies were available and the electronic medication reports were accessible and didn't freeze up and shut down for no reason. The management staff would also call many – more... times for us to look something up that they were able to access themselves again taking away time from the patients. Monthly meetings consisted of being publically criticized and cursed at in front of your co workers. I sat in a meeting and while being told I wasn't giving out medication quick enough, the DNS was giving a staff member a flu vaccine with no gloves and took the cap off with her teeth. If we did that we would be fired on the spot. The new management would not assist if an emergency situation came up. The patients still needed to be attended to and the only time they took was to call you down to the office after the fact and attempt to write you up for not doing whatever it was fast enough that day. Very stressful work environment in the Wilkes-Barre facility. Co-workers were wonderful and most would try and help out if possible and they along with the patients were the most enjoyable part of the job – less

The job is very tedious and the work load is heavy
RN Charge Nurse (Former Employee), Meridian, MSJuly 7, 2014
A typical day at work consisted of labs, supervising CNAs and LPNs. The work load was very heavy for the time frame allotted. Management did not work well with school schedules or work lives. They schedule to work doubles without consulting you first. The hardest part of the job is attempting to complete the large amount of task required in the time – more... frame given. The most enjoyable part of the job is caring for the patients. – less

Golden Living center
Physical Therapist (Current Employee), Martinsville, VAJune 30, 2014
Pros: better for coordination and team work
Cons: monotonus, heartbreaking, static
It is a mix of Short term and long term set up with 130 beds.
Prior to this I had worked more in a short term set up It was an eye opener towards the skilled care that is needed in a long term set up.
I think every day for me has been a learning experience, having worked with a very enthusiastic team of therapists.
The thing I like the most is everyone – more... is like one big family where you know all patients and everyone is very friendly and know one another.
People are more close knit and patients consider us more approachable. – less

Golden Living is a great workplace.
Dietary Aide (Current Employee), Canonburg, PAJune 24, 2014
Pros: great pay.
Cons: short hours and is not full time.
A typical day at Golden Living Centers involves taking care of the kitchen duties and making sure all of the residents are fed with a healthy and tasteful meal. While working at the nursing home, I am learning how to better myself in the kitchen and how to prepare food the proper way. The management at the facility is great, as well as my co-workers. – more... The hardest and most enjoyable part of the job would be the residents. – less

Is an excellent long term care facility
Director of Clinical Education (Former Employee), Anderson, MOJune 23, 2014
Pros: good benefits, hours, excellent care of the elderly & disabled.
Cons: unfair treatment of employees, wrongful terminations, facility likes to make their own rules when dealing with company policy, the nursing staff are overworked and underpaid!
While I worked for Golden Living Center in Anderson MO I enjoyed working with the staff and being around the residents and families. Golden Living is an excellent long term care facility, but has some issues when it comes to working together as a team and fair treatment to staff members. I was let go from the facility because of some issues involving – more... scheduling, I do not agree with the reason for the write up that lead to my termination! The facility director had signed off on the schedule and the DON never commented on any issues she noticed about the schedule the Friday before I went on vacation the next week and when I returned the following week I was told that I was being terminated due to the scheduling issues that arose! – less
