This was a great place to work.
Hardlines Manager (Former Employee), Houston, TXJune 17, 2014
Pros: worked with all the latest technology in the golf industry.
Cons: not a lot of room for advancement. bonuses never materialized.
I had the opportunity to help a great deal of customers on a day to day basis. I really enjoyed watching customers leave the store smiling. There was really no hard part to this job. The only issue I would say about this company is that they don't promote from within. They hire bench managers to run their stores and have a high turnover rate for store – more... managers. I did learn to do custom fittings for clubs as well as golf balls. I learned a lot more about golf than I thought I knew and I am a very avid golfer. – less

Visual Merchandiser (Former Employee), Chicago, ILApril 3, 2014
Pros: discount golf apparel
Cons: weak benefits
a very routine job and little pay. The co-workers were great. Although there was a lot of managerial oversight. I liked the job and I was able to help golfers with the equipment aspect of the sport. I would recommend this position to people that are interested in the latest golf news and trends.

Along with being a senior manager I am also a PGA Class A member which helped tremendously when helping customers.
General Manager (Former Employee), San Antonio, TXFebruary 19, 2014
Pros: merchandise discounts
Cons: work hours & pay scale
The company had much pressure from parent company to perform, therefore the demands on GM's time and store performance was unrealistic and unpredictable from day to day.

Salesmen, customer service, cashier, greater (Former Employee), Omaha, NebraskaSeptember 30, 2013
Pros: great work enviornment
Cons: retail
Each day you are tested about your knowledge about the game of golf and merchandise of golf. I learned more about golf than what I had previously known. The management was great but there is always room for improvement in leadership. Co-Workers are just that co-workers. some are good some are bad. The hardest part of the job was dealing with the customers – more... on a daily basis. And the most enjoyable part of the job was helping the customer and get what they want and achieve what they wanted for their game. – less

A great place to work and shop if you love Golf.
Operations Lead (Manager) (Former Employee), Skokie, ILSeptember 23, 2013
Pros: golf discount at golf galaxy and discounts at dick's sporting goods
Cons: retail is retail. hours may fluctuate seasonally.
As with any retail job, the store must be prepared for opening and recovered at close. The opening team participates in Tee Time where the day's goals are discussed and any company announcements are made. If you love golf, you will learn a great deal about golf clubs and accessories, including clothing and golf shoes. Store managers and co-workers are – more... friendly and willing to help each other. The hardest part of working in the golf industry is seasonal and sometimes economic swings in golf activity, especially in northern climates. The best part of working at Golf Galaxy is that you are surrounded by golf stuff! Like a kid in a candy store. – less

Players Assistant-Customer Service Associate (Current Employee), Houston, TXJune 29, 2013
Pros: get more knowledge on golf.
Cons: n/a
A typical day at Golf Galaxy includes me greeting customers and giving them exceptional customer service. I was recruited by a co worker of mine not knowing a thing about golf. I learned the basics of golf during my first week on the job. My co-workers are knowledgeable of the game and they've taught me what I need to know about the game.

Golf store for anything a golfer needs.
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee), Grapevine, TXMarch 30, 2013
Pros: my co-workers
Cons: managers, never gave breaks when supposed to.
I greeted customers worked with returns as well as customers trade ins and special orders. Management was terrible non of the managers had any respect for their employees. Hardest part of my job was when we were busy and the managers did not want to help up front when we had a line out the door so i specifically would be alone. Most enjoyable was helping – more... people with my customer service and making the customer want to return to our store. Co workers were awesome the best part of my day. I learned to re count money over and over again before handing it back or receiving it. – less

Operations Manager (Former Employee), Chesterfield, MOMarch 4, 2013
Pros: professional advancement opportunities
Cons: no real benefits available to most part-time associates
A typical manager's work week is 50 hours or more (salaried). One will learn to deal with all sorts of employees, from students to retirees. The most difficult part of the job are the ever-changing expectations passed down from corporate officers that rarely step foot in a store. The most enjoyable part of the job is the daily interactions with customers – more... that share your passion for golf. – less
