Amazing management and team support. I really enjoyed the knowledge I gained from coworkers. While working for the company I worked on merchandising with other companies and making sure displays were no only organized but creative as well.

Fun in the golf world,no fun getting paid $9.00/hr.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  North Wales, PAJune 25, 2017
Typical retail environment. Have to play cop keeping customers from abusing the golf simulator. They would spend an hour in there if you walked away and not care about other customers.
Pros
Clean store, nice managers to deal with.
Cons
Sarary with no comission. Employee discount taken away when Dick's took over.

PGA Teaching Professional (Current Employee) –  Indianapolis, INJune 2, 2017
Being a Teaching professional you get to meet and talk to a lot of interesting people. I have made a lot of friends while working there from both customers and associates at the store. It is a very fast paced environment where days and hours can become long. Overall it is a good job that allows you to do many different jobs and be around golf.

Softlines Manager / Leadership Manager (Former Employee) –  Cary, NCMay 22, 2017
You get lost as an individual and are not treated fairly throughout this company. Whether it is Dicks Sporting Goods implementing their views onto the job or the lack of management. I would not recommend working here.

it as very relaxing, managers were laid back, employees were nice and welcoming. Rather slow during winter season, other than the store being slow, great workplace environment.

Low pay and no advancement. Golf Galaxy was awesome before Dicks sporting goods purchased the company. All management was let go to hire employees for lower salaries.

General Sales Manager (Current Employee) –  Madison, WIJanuary 15, 2017
I love golf as a consumer and I was fortunate to be asked to join the Golf Galaxy team 5 years ago and it is a great place to work. Fun friendly atmosphere. Sales were always a top focus but the best part of the job was the level of customer service we were able to provide. being able to fit customers into equipment that truly made there games was fun! Merchandising apparel and helping customers on a busy day then freight replenishment and service work when you could.

Player's Assistant (Current Employee) –  MassachusettsNovember 20, 2016
If you are not higher management in the store, you can expect typical retail wages and seasonal schedule. My particular store has good chemistry and solid relationships. Good communication between managers and employees. Excellent opportunities for training and building product knowledge.

The worst part of the job would be the usual retail wages. If you really enjoy the retail environment and enjoy sharing knowledge about golf technology and products, you can certainly grow into more progressive roles.
Pros
Enjoyable, social
Cons
limitations of pay and hours for non managers
