Description: We are seeking qualified individuals to apply for our Native Landscaping Specialist position. Duties include native landscaping installation, supervising employees, office duties as well as assisting with natural areas restoration, weed management and equipment maintenance. About 50-70% of the time will be spent working in the field and 30-50% in the office. This position will grow in responsibility and compensation to include project management, marketing, communication and other roles that match the successful applicant's skills. It is intended that this position will develop into a leadership role of our Sustainable Landscaping division.
Necessary Qualifications: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements to be considered for this position:
At least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, work on ones feet and in harsh weather and difficult conditions.
At least 24 months of professional experience in the field of landscaping.
Experience installing and maintaining landscapes- use of proper planting and pruning techniques, etc.
Experience working with herbicides and a Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicators License or willingness and ability to attain such a license.
Ability to identify and manage common weeds.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ample experience with computers and productivity software.
Dedication to an environmentally sound way of living and working.
Additional Skills: A successful candidate will also have some or many, of the following skills and abilities:
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or similar.
Experience operating and maintaining power tools including chain saws, weed whips, mowers, etc.
Experience with hardscaping techniques including retaining walls, pathways & patios.
Knowledge and experience with erosion control and shoreline stabilization techniques.
Landscape design education or experience.
Experience operating skid-loaders or other heavy equipment and operating a vehicle towing a trailer.
Knowledge of composting, gardening, permaculture and edible landscaping.
Experience in customer service, sales, project management or business management.
Compensation: $14-18/hour based on qualifications. This is a full-time hourly position. No additional benefits are offered at this time, however for qualifying personnel, compensation and benefits will improve with time.
